A rectangular block of metal with a square cross-section has a total surface area of 240cm^2. Find the maximum volume of the block?

To answer the question you need to use differentiation,
1) work out the equation for the volume?
which i think is x^2y (as area of cross section * length)
2) work out the equation for the surface area?
which i think is 2x^2+4xy = 240cm^2

i don't know what to do next to work out the values of x and y and find the 1st and 2nd derivatives and turning points etc...

could u pls help and show workings step by step pls.

Dear freinds,

Would appreciate if you would be a approprate advice. I have a freind who is married and to be divorced. He is gem of a person i have ever met in my life and he is so caring and loving. But unfortunately he is so depressed because of the bad thing that happend in his life. He thinks that there is nothing more in rest of his life and very often he gets angry. When i try to explain that this is life - he ends up yelling at me. I like him a lot and want rest of this life to be happy. What should i do?

Not sure if I can explain this how I want to, let me try.

We're buying a new house and I'm going to get the builders to wire in cables for surround sound. They offer a package with speakers which are set flush into the wall, but they look terrible and I'd rather have some control over the quality of speaker I buy.

I've heard it said that the speakers should be positioned at more or less head height, for when you're viewing the screen sitting down - so the sound is project on the same level as your ears.

My questions is in two parts really:
1. Would it work if I put speakers up in the corners of the room near the ceiling, then angled down into the room slightly ... i.e. so the sound is projected towards a central point on the wall opposite the TV, where I'll be sitting on my sofa?

2. Are there any speakers which are designed to fit in an upper corner like that? I'd imagine the back would be somewhat triangular, and perhaps the front would be more spherical?

A few days ago I had posted about bottlefeeding and how baby won't sleep more than 2 hours. Well, baby is still getting worst. Now, she won't even sleep more than hour and a half. But, my main question is this..after every feeding, I burp her. It might take a long time, but she burps. Then she'll fall asleep. Now, every day, all of a sudden, 20 minutes later, after she falls asleep, she'll wake up crying bloody murder all of a sudden, and then throw up. Then, she'll go back to sleep. What is the deal with that???? Is that considered normal? Is this something I have to live with for a while? Oh, then it sounds like there's popping in her belly before she gags and coughs. Is that reflux?

Any ideas? Thanks!
