.....How often is it in genuine interest, and how often is it a diplomatic blow-off?
It seems like a woman is more likely to call you "sweet" when she is not interested in you, but wants to say *something* in appreciation of how nice you are to her.
(btw: Just got told today, "You're really sweet. I should hang out with you more often." The second part is anomalous as all hell, but her use of "sweet" still makes me doubt the sincerity of the second part.)
