"Sweet" is pretty much a blow-off by a woman you are trying to date. She has put you in "nice guy" category which is the kiss of death. KA is correct. I suspect she is self-aware. There is still something to salvage...by hanging around her you may have access to her female friends. You'll just have to run damage control if she tells them you are "sweet."
Good luck.

Unfortunately, without more detail, this is a 50/50 deal. I don't tell a man he is 'sweet' unless I mean it. It does no good to beat around the bush and leave someone hanging (like yourself) in a void. This is what I suggest.....if you would really like to go out with this woman or see her on a dating basis, send her a simple arrangement of flowers with a card that says " I would like to hang out more often with you too" and give her your phone/cellphone number.......then the ball is in her court. If you hear from her, GREAT! If not, you haven't invested much of yourself, your time or your money to end up being disappointed. Good luck and blessings to you.....

I don't think I would call a man sweet to his face because I know most guys feel the way you do: that you wouldn't be interested. If I did say it though, it would be because I really meant that what he said or did was sweet and that I appreciated it. I'm not sure if you understand my answer, but I don't know how to better explain what I mean.

Sweet is a free pass to "Friendland". Next time you see the chic who called you sweet- be nice of course but you want a girl guessing alittle about you. Girls like a guy with mystery.

It means that you're sweet and she may be interested in you. Myself, I wouldn't call my date sweet if I don't think he's ...
But I also call my male friends "sweet" when they're being sweet ....
I think she really meant that she wanted to hang out with you more often. I wouldn't say that unless I really did ... but that's just me

It sounds to me like she meant it. Don't shoot the messenger. I would never call some one sweet if I didn't mean it. I might say "that was really sweet of you" if I wasn't interested in you.

Yeah sweet huh....I am a 27 and "sweet" to me is secret girl language meaning that you are def sweet but we just want to be your friend. She may be different but If she talks to you about other guys and asks you for advice then you are def the go to guy friend to her. But hopefully I am wrong if you like her.

It's really not that obvious. It depends on the girl. If she knows what she wants and likes nice guys, it could be a very big compliment.
Also keep in mind that relationships continuously evolve and, well, you never know ;)

Personally, I would never call a guy sweet unless I meant it. That's a pretty flirtatious word to use if one isn't interested...
