United States - January 2007

This question is given to those who have lived in Washington DC. Please do not depend upon statistics; just your own experience:

I've read that the Northwestern Quadrant of Washington DC is relatively safe. I've also read that the Northern and Western suburbs of DC are very safe. These suburbs are: Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax and Loudoun counties in Virgina, and Montgomery and Howard counties in Maryland.

How true is this statement? Are these counties safer than most of the USA? Is Gerorgetown, DC a safe place; along with the other parts of Northwestern DC?

I'm looking forward to serious answers. If detailed, they'd be better. Thanks a lot in advance.

We are spending our two year (dating) anniversary in San Simeon next month (February) for two days, one night. We are driving down from the San Francisco bay area, and would not like to venture much more south than San Simeon. I would like suggestions as to where to dine that is not too expensive (~$20 entrees or less)--for a nice, quiet dinner and for places to casually drop in for lunch.

Tentatively, we are going to do the first tour on the first day and try and visit the elephant seals. We haven't decided which other tour to do on the second day (suggestions recommended!). Other than that, we have a lot of open time. It will also be very cold, so we would rather not be doing too much outdoorsy activities besides walking along the beach.

I also have not much information about Cayucos or Cambria/Harmony. Are these places worth a visit? Anything else between the bay area and San Simeon worth a look?

I currently a gay man and live in phillidelphia, PA and was looking to move to either Dallas, tx / Fort Worth or Austin, TX. I have never been to TX and i am looking at the current crime rate statistics and am nervous about finding a apartment and ending up in a bad section of town. Looking for specials to Las Vegas from DFW. Anyone know of some deals? I heard Southwest now flys direct to Vegas but I can't verify that. I also heard that FunJet has some deals but their site is difficult to use when looking for low airfare with flexible dates. In fact, all airline sites are difficult with this search criteria. I wish a site just said "You can fly roundtrip to XXX for $XXX if you are willing to fly on this date: xx/xx/xxxx."

able to spend week or even more in New York, but hotel prices are steep so I'm wondering whether we could have say 4 or 5 days in Manhattan, and possibly 2/3 days out of town - up to say 2 hours on public transport. We are first time visitors from UK, love scenery and sights, rather than night life, and would like to make the most of our time without breaking the bank.
Anywhere you'd recommend out of town?
Our airport will be Newark; incidentally is early May a good time, weather-wise?

Hi! I'm a 30 year old man from Cairo, Egypt who has recieved his Ph D in the field of Arms and Armour.
I've recieved countless invitations to live and work in USA. These come from universities, museum,...etc.

I'm a single guy who wishes to marry and start a family seriously. Though I'm a Sunni Muslim (and proud of being so), I don't mind mayying a non-Muslim girl. I'd prefer her slim, white and to be from European descent (a blonde is more preferable).

Now then, regarding safety, friendliness, weather and cleanness, which state (or city in particular) would be best for me to live there?

I must add that the salaries offered were proportionate with the cost of living...so don't worry about this part!
