Dallas definitely has a sizeable gay population. I would look for places in the Oaklawn/Lemmon, Knox/Hendereson area or pretty much anywhere uptown. Downtown is undergoing a major growth spurt and alot of cool lofts are being built. The area known as "The Strip" on Cedar Springs in Uptown is all the Gay community nightlife. A word of warning though, I moved to Dallas from NYC and you don't know what HOT is until you experience a Texas summer! 40+ days with temperatures over 100!!
Just check out craigslist.com and type in the areas I mentioned in the search bar, you can get an idea of prices.

Dallas has a great gay community. Don't listen to those close minded idiots above me who said otherwise (especially about the don't come to texas comment). The Oaklawn/Lemmon Ave. Uptown area is a huge part of the Dallas gay community and has many great apartment locations. I would also check out Cedar Springs for clubs and bars. I have many friends who live in this general area and love it. I hope you find what you are looking for! Good luck!

Reagan at Congress is a good area - area code 75219 is a popular area for gays in Dallas although folks aren't so congegrated as they used to be. In general the Oak Lawn area or the Uptown area are good. Ft. Worth is not a strong gay community. Gaston Avenue can be very "iffy" - goes from slums to urban pioneers to urban rehab so you have to know where you are.

If you like to party, move to Austin!
Otherwise, stick with Oak Lawn in Dallas, as some people previously answered.
I'd stay away from Fort Worth, most of my friends, gay and straight, have nothing good to say about it.

The ones in Dallas and Fort Worth that you have listed...I'd probably not move to those areas. I love Dallas and Fort Worth (I live in FW), but those areas aren't very nice. Try PROMOVE.COM
I used them. They call you back real quick and find what you're looking for and will send you an email with links to the websites for each comminuty. Each link shows you the company's move-in specials. It is a wonderful service. I really liked using them to help me find my new apartment.
Good luck!!!

I live in Irving, Texas and find it way better than living in North Dallas, If you move to the Texas try Plano, Irving, North Richland Hills, Hurst, Grapevine. I would pick all of these over Dallas, North Dallas, South Dallas, Duncanville, etc.

Your choices are way better then the small towns. I come from the worst town in Texas against gays (close to Dallas) and trust me they ran a great doctor out of town becuase his wife died from Aids. I think Irving is the best choice but times are a changing.

I do not think I would consider either of the Dallas addresses. For your lifestyle, I would want to find out more about the Oak Lawn/Lemmon Ave. apartments. Good luck to you.

If your moving to Dallas move to the Oak Lawn area. It is very nice over there. There are many gays that live there. I think its kind of expensive but you should look into it.
