That's the only amount of time you had to spend in Boston, what is the one thing you would make sure you did?

thanks to the two people who gave me real answers. This is a real question. I'd like serious answers that are specific! My suggestion to anyone is not to walk around a city like that at midnight. Your teachers must not have been very smart

If you only have one hour to get away from the airport, it's tight so I'd stick to somewhere close by the airport/subway line. The North End is historically the Italian part of Boston and it has nice cafes, restaurants, buildings. It's nearby Fanueil Hall which was famous during the Colonial Era but is now a big food expo and shopping area. It's nicer than that sounds. Nearby there is the Old North (or South?) Church and part of the Freedom Trail (a series of red bricks linking historical parts of Boston together from the early days of Independence). There's a couple of historically famous restaurants and bars in that area. There's a subway stop at Govt Centre that is on the direct line to the airport.

If you like shopping for bargains, you can go to the original Filene's Basement at Downtown crossing and fight over designer cashmere for an hour.

Or you can go to Boston Common and wander through the park aand roam over to Beacon Hill, which is a very pretty part of town.

I also like Harvard Square in Cambridge but you're risking it if you really only have an hour...

Take the "T" to Haymarket and walk over to The Union Oyster House for an ale and some free, fried codfish during happy hour.

It don't get more Boston than that!

I would walk around the Fanueil Hall/Quincy Market area. There are always lots of things going on, to do and see.

Hide. We went there during high school, and our group walked through the park there at midnight. There were groups and individuals hiding behind every bush and park bench. The only reason that we did not get mugged is that we outnumbered every gang there.
