Don't miss the opportunity to buy some of our fantastic American long underwear. You'll be pretty chilly without it, and there's nothing worse than a chilly willy.
You could probably get a pair to match your kilt :)

Be sure to make a reservation for the pretheater dinner special at the Four Seasons, which is a five star restaurant and very romantic. If you are seated by 6:15 you get a full dinner from appetizer to dessert for $65 a person. Call 212-754-9494 and ask to be seated in the pool room. The best bargain in town but jacket and tie required with the kilt. Get your theater tickets at the half price ticket booth or you can find discounts on line for a lot of Broadway shows.
Ride the Staten Island ferry, go shopping at Century 21 (across the street from the WTC). It's discount and very stylish. Metropolitan Museum of Art has everything-art, knights in armor, mummies, a small Egyptian temple and a nice place to have lunch. It's a full day experience. http://www.metmuseum.org/
Eat dim sum in Chinatown for brunch. Go to the Bronx Zoo. It's by donation on Wednesdays, other days it's $14

The kilt jokes aside, the 2 things I wouldn't miss if you're visiting, are going to the top of the Empire State Bldg, and taking the ferry out to see the Statue of Liberty. You won't be disappointed with either. Have a great trip.

Nightlife wise, head to the Lower East Side or Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Those are the two hip areas. Women everywhere will like the kilt.
If you need a pub, there's loads on 3rd Ave between 34th and 14th (as well as some on 1st and 2nd in same area).

Well, there are a lot of subway grates you could visit. Do a Marilyn Monroe. (Sorry, couldn't resist.)
For some real sights to see in New York City, check out the website below. It includes info on the obvious (Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Empire State Building, Broadway shows) and the less obvious (New York Botanical Garden, TV show tapings, all sorts of guided tours).

If you're walking around NYC for a week wearing a kilt, the good times will come to you...

I would suggest you make sure you miss the edge of the toilet bowls as it will hurt you under your kilt.
