Travel (General) - July 2007

Heya Guys,

Im an Aussie Student and will be travelling to California in January. Ive been advised to take mainly travellers cheques as they can be used as currency. Just wondering if any Americans could confirm that for me? I'll be in LA & San Fransisco at all the "touristy" places- but was told places even like maccas will take travellers cheques as cash ( without having to previously cash them in) . Any insight would be fantastic I really dont want to turn up with all these travellers cheques and have to cash them all in individually if they arent accepted as cash! Thanks Heaps !

I was looking for bugpatches which are supposed to keep bugs that look for ones blood away from you and this method have been effective in Australia for 50 years but recently I saw this advertised in USA but because I do not live there it is rather hard for me to get those patches and do not have much time to get them and I live in a country that is highly conserative in many things and one can not get them here and also it cost a fortune to import it because of greedyness that seems to be a part of this system here and the taxes are far to high to deal with you never know what they are going to charge you. Anyway I wanted to know if there are possibilities to get those patches without receipt because they are just natural products and highly protective and also if they were to be found without receipt in Scandinavia which have lots of bugs that irritates people but i am on my way to Philippines with stop over in Sweden. And thanks for previous answeres.

Okay, my boyfriend and I were supposed to go to Disney with my mom and her boyfriend. But, my mom and her boyfriend recently broke up, so now we can't stay in his condo. i am going on a honeymoon here real soon, and i know the dates, i know the hotel, and i know the specific type of room that i want.

i need to get the cheapest price for that room...

i looked on expedia.com, travelocity.com, orbitz.com and the hotel website.

i havent called yet.

im not sure if a travel agent can get me a cheap enough price to offset the savings.

someone also recommended to me that i not reserve anything. they said i should just show up and that i might be able to get a room pretty cheap that way. im a little nervous about that because i dont want them to sell out (touristy area)

have i exhausted my options or is there something else i can try?

If I drive through a toll booth that says 35c "exact fare" and I have only quarters, throwing in 50c, while the booth doesn't signal me to pass, and I still pass (from the execessive honking behind me), would I suffer consequences? I'm worried about the exact fare thing....

I know that you can carry guns in ur baggage in some airplane air ways not the baggage u carry with u but theirs certain things u have 2 do. but cant you just stick a gun in the baggage and get it waighted and tagged and go on to ur flight i mean how do they know theirs no gun in the baggage all they do is waight it and tagg it CORRECT ME IF IAM WRONG and PLEAS NO BULL C**P like y do u wanna know or y do u need 2 know that type of information.

I keep getting different answers. I asked at the post office today and was told yes. But when I looked up online, it said no. Mine expired and I have to renew anyway, but will be going to Canada in the fall and need to get a straight answer because then I have to send in my renewal right away. Thanks!
