I'll most recommend a Scandinavian country for peace and quiet, Spain or Italy for a more exciting vacation. Southeast-Asia is a good place as well, though crime rates in Malaysia is pretty high these days, but it's still pretty worth visiting. Singapore for a clean and good weather (and food), or Thailand for the bargains in shopping (Bangkok in particular).

Depends what your interests are. Indochina is fascinating and there is still time to go to Laos and Myanmar in particular before they get too crowded. Bhutan is totally different to any other country. Italy or Greece for culture, Scotland for beautiful scenery, just avoid the midges. Scandinavia for great friendly people and plenty of fresh air. Argentina is surpisingly friendly to Brits considering our past differences. There are so many to choose from, it's difficult to pick a best one.
