If it's not way out of the way stopping in Las Vegas is also kind of a priority. Thanks!

Hello,

I will be staying in Vegas for the 4th of July for two nights with a ladyfriend, and was wondering which hotel is better, the Luxor, or Tropicana? We are both in our 20's. I have heard the Luxor defined as "Ghetto" but I could think of worse places. I would never stay at NY, NY, Paris, Excalibur, MGM. Thanks

I'm thinking about taking a summer English course at either USF or UCLA, the problem is that I still don't know which one and the deadline for application is getting very close. I have some friends living in Berkeley so I thought they might show me around SF and I won't be so alone for my first few days, besides,SF seems like a very friendly city (I'm from outside US). However USF is a small university, I'm afraid there won't be much to do on campus. Furthermore, I've heard UCLA is much better & bigger than USF, so I can't get bored even if I only stayed at the campus. I was also told that in LA if you don't have a car you won't get anywhere. And UCLA is located in Westwood, next to Beverly Hills and Bel-Air and all those fancy places - expensive places. As a student with a slightly tight budget I'm afraid I won't be able to have much fun there since I don't have any millions in my account...Please help me choose the best place. T

I am looking for an inexpensive store on the strip (preferably near Venetian) where I can buy some inexpensive gifts for family/friends? Any such store in the Fashion Show mall? I am looking for vegas logo'd t-shirts/sweatshirts, shot glasses, toys, etc. I know the gift shops inside the big casinos will likely be pretty pricey.... I will not have a car - so please only suggestions that are ON the strip. Thanks!

We are flying to US in June and we have heard that at check in, sometimes you can be upgraded for free if there is space? What is the best way to do this? Someone suggested saying we had just got engaged? Has anyone ever done this successfully, or know of a good tip or sure fire winner?

In other words, I'm looking for a place that's not too far on the cheap end (i.e. Imperial Palce/Excalibur), or, a super expensive place (i.e. Mandalay Bay, Wynn, Venitian). I want somewhere in between that is still nice and a good value.

I want a place that's preferably no more than $175 a night on the weekend. Any thoughts on The Rio?

Ideally, I want somewhere on the strip and that has a good pool. Any thoughts?

If there are 5 of us in a party, will we all be able to fit into one cab from JFK to Manhattan? We are all just bringing carry-on bags.
