If there are 5 of us in a party, will we all be able to fit into one cab from JFK to Manhattan? We are all just bringing carry-on bags.

I know they have those Toyota mini-van cabs around. I think those might work, but would they let 5 of us in together?

I'm thinking of booking a car service, but that will cost a little extra. If I have to fine, but I want to know ahead of time so we're not standing around waiting for one to come if they say we can't get in a cab.

It is against the law, and at the airport, there are too many people around to get them to do it. As for the person above that says to "call a cab and tell them you have five" has no idea what he is talking about. You cannot call a cab in NYC. You can call a ca service. With the recent taxi increase, they are about the same price.

I believe there is a law against having more than 4 people, although some cabbies will just let people in. Probably at the airport it would be tough to fit all five people in, unless there is the taxi vans as the last person said. Those are pretty common also

At JFK they have all sorts of sizes of cabs. Some are station wagons, minivans and full sized vans and yes you could all fit in one of those. However probably not in a normal car unless you are quite small--as that would be 4 people in the backseat of a Chevy.

However if you are calling a cab in Manhattan to go back to JFK make sure to tell them that you have 5 people so they will send a bigger car.

I don't think so. It was squished with 5 girls and we were just going like a mile. If you have luggage and 5 people I would probably recommend taking 2 but there's always cabs at the airport so you can try it with 1 and then if it seems to crowded just hail another one.
