The suburbs of Baton Rouge is where all the activity is. You may want to try Denham Springs, Walker, Prairieville or Gonzales.
If you really want to live in Baton Rouge, you need to consider what you are looking for. There is a whole college town area around LSU that is all students. I would imagine it it loud there on weekends. If you have a family, you may want to try Sherwood Forest, Coursey Blvd, Bluebonnet Blvd, O'neal Lane.
Areas to avoid - North Baton Rouge or anywhere off Interstate I-110. This is a poor area that has a lot of crime.
