I have 2 kids 10 & 9- where can we go celebrate New Years Eve in the Los Angeles, Pasadena, Anaheim, Long Beach area that is inexpensive? I am looking for something more family oriented locations!

Hope to spend a week sightseeing in New York and arranging hotels and flights ( to JFK ) via the internet. My question is, do I need to be worried about being ripped off in cab fares from JFK to NYC? What's the best way to make sure I get a decent cab and pay the going rate? Sorry, may seem a stupid question but it will be my first port of call with paying for a service in the US?

We are in the process of relocating to Canada from US. The destinations we have in mind are Toronto and Vancouver. Any suggestions? The concerns are weather, jobs, children's schooling system, public transportation, etc. Not so much into skiing. Thanks in advance and new years greetings!

I have reserved a vacation rental in Phoenix, oiff Shea Blvd, right next to the 51. Is this a good neighborhood? I mistakenly booked us in a hotel on the seedier part of town last year and would like to avoid the same mistake.
