I want to know what are some good Night Clubs in Victoria BC (the name and adress if you can). Also, what is the age to go clubbing?

What makes Victoria so beautiful, as people tend to say? I will be there during wintertime.

Is there a lot of short-term/temporary housing available? I'm a student and will be needing one semester's accommodations. I am hoping to sublet with some students. What are some safe areas of the city to live in? Is Victoria a safe city overall? Any areas of the city to avoid, any to see?

What are typical price ranges for living in Victoria? Is cost of living high, rent, entertainment, etc high?

Anything else that's good to know?

Thanks!!!

Hello, I'm moving to Victoria soon and I just wanted to know if winters there are similar to Vancouver's and how cold, dark does it get.

Any thoughts, too, on life for a foreign (well, American) grad student at UVic? I tend to prefer densely built towns/cities that are traversible by walking and efficient public-transit systems, a nice cultural environment, etc.

I've checked the Washington State Governement website and It doesn't seem to show any other departure point for Victoria. I was hoping to not have to drive over on the Ferrie but walk off the boat when it got there.

I'm going on a vacation and I'll be in Victoria for a little bit, and so I have a few questions about the place.

1. What are the main tourist attractions that you don't have to pay lots of money to see?
2. Can you give me the names of some relatively inexpensive restaurants in Victoria that serve food that is uniquely that of Victoria?
3. Do residents of Victoria drink tea in the afternoon like British people do? Where's a good place to go and have an authentic Victorian tea?
4. Is there a bank near the harbor where I can go and exchange currencies?

I have 12 hours in the city. What are the best things for a couple in their early thirties to do (i.e. shopping and pub crawling vs. Butchart Gardens)?

THANK YOU!

I will take a cruise from Seatle to Alaska round trip. On the way back the ship will stop at Victoria (Canada) for 5 hours. I am not planning on walking out of the ship, but still I dont know if they will ask me or not for any type of document. I am a resident alien and have a residency card (green card) but I dont have a passport from my country. I want to make sure I will not get in trouble for not taking a document (for example a passport) If any body knows anything about this kind of situation please let me know.

We're debating whether to fly straight into BC from Washington DC or fly to Seattle and drive up to Victoria/Vancouver. It's a $160 difference -- is it worth it? (Pretend you're frugal, but it's your honeymoon)

I am moving to Vancouver Island and have heard that some things are more expensive there. Can someone please tell me the price of:
4 litres of milk (2%)
Case of Wal-Mart's baby formula
a pound of ground beef
A loaf of wonder bread
A dozen eggs
A carton of cigarettes (Canadian Classics) or can you get rez smokes out there?

This will give me an idea of how prices compare with where I live now (Southern Ontario) and I really appreciate it!

Thanks all,

Samlet

The kick off time will be about 11.45 am over there.
I don't know Victoria and will only arrive a couple of days before. It's the biggest game of the season so far so I want to be prepared. Cheers.

Thanks and see ya soon,
