I will take a cruise from Seatle to Alaska round trip. On the way back the ship will stop at Victoria (Canada) for 5 hours. I am not planning on walking out of the ship, but still I dont know if they will ask me or not for any type of document. I am a resident alien and have a residency card (green card) but I dont have a passport from my country. I want to make sure I will not get in trouble for not taking a document (for example a passport) If any body knows anything about this kind of situation please let me know.

Usually a cruise company collects your travel documents when you board the ship for the first time, makes up a master list, then gives you your documents back. At each stop you have been pre-cleared through Customs and Immigration before arrival and just walk off the ship. I assume that if a country found you "unsuitable", they would tell the cruise line to just keep you on board.

Until January 2008 you only need a passport when you fly into Canada from The USA. After that date you will need a passport to enter at all. If your cruise is before January, you should be fine bringing picture ID.
Also, take a walk off the boat and explore the city. Where the cruises dock, is right by downtown Victoria. Take in the sites, grab a bite at Milestones (wonderful view), check out some attractions like UNdersea World and the Royal BC Museum

As long as you have Permanent Residency card with you, you should be okay. PR's of the U.S. are exempt from needing tourist visa's for Canada, and esp. since you aren't leaving the ferry, should be no problem at all.
