I am moving to Vancouver Island and have heard that some things are more expensive there. Can someone please tell me the price of:
4 litres of milk (2%)
Case of Wal-Mart's baby formula
a pound of ground beef
A loaf of wonder bread
A dozen eggs
A carton of cigarettes (Canadian Classics) or can you get rez smokes out there?

This will give me an idea of how prices compare with where I live now (Southern Ontario) and I really appreciate it!

Thanks all,

Samlet

Hi, I live in Victoria and here are some standard prices

4 litres of milk (2%) - $4.59 (Island Farms - best brand)
Case of Wal-Mart's baby formula - walmart prices are pretty standard across canada. You should be paying the same for such items
a pound of ground beef ($1.99 for regular - $3.99 for lean)
A loaf of wonder bread - Between $1 - $2
A dozen eggs - $1.99 for regular - $5.99 for organic
A carton of cigarettes (Canadian Classics) or can you get rez smokes out there? Not sure as I don't smoke, but I know a pack goes for $7

good luck

I'm sure you'll get an answer from an actual resident soon, but, in the meantime, just in case: I'm from Ottawa, and spent a year living in Victoria once; prices were indeed somewhat higher, but certainly not shockingly so.

Odd note on that milk: 'Island Farms,' the popular dairy there, has amazing stuff. It took months before I could eat standard-issue Ont cottage cheese without thinking it'd gone slightly bad or something.

Pretty sure a yes on rez smokes.

I do hope you get some prices from people on Vancouver Island. In the meantime, here is a website for the current flyer for the walmart store in Victoria. This should help some. You may be able to find similar online flyers for grocery and other stores as well

Here is one for superstore

Why fine_*** would think you'd be interested in prices in her American state I cannot understand! They (Americans) can be sooooooo arrogant.
