Although they process very slow, both Visa and Mastercard can be used as methods of payment in Cuba on the resort and in larger stores, but cash is the best way to go!

Not a good idea if the card is issued by an American Bank. It is illegal to do business with Cuba. But then if you are a US citizen you should not be going without permission for the US Treasury Office of Foreign Assets and Control it could cost you $10,000. That is what the fine is for violating OFAC rules and regs.

Hi, yes you can use visa and Master card but bring cash instead. Then you convert it to Convertible pesos. Do NOT bring US dollars, they take additional 10% service charge. Don't bother with travellers cheques either, use the hotel safe and you are fine. Good luck!
