I'm doing a report on New Jersey and one of the questions were, where did the settlement name (New Jersey) come from? Any facts extra will help alot and ill give best answer! Thanks ppl.

British settlers often named places in the New World after where they came from back home. Jersey is a part of England, hence the name "New" Jersey.

It's called after the island of Jersey in the Channel Islands which are in the UK.
