I am headed to NYC for the first time with my family and was wondering where is the best place to stay that is between Statue of liberty and Times square? My Family and I would like to see ground zero and everything famous we can. I was thinking of driving in from Philadelphia but I can also take the train to Penn station but I didnt know if everything was in walking distance? People keep telling me to stay in NJ across the bridge due to its cheaper and you can take a bus into the city? Please if anyone can answer all these question please do so that I do not get lost on vacation. Thanks again.

We will be a small group of women - all reasonably fit and wish to get some fresh air, plenty of strenous activity without it being too much of an effort - hopefully incorporate some good touristy spots too! Your recommendations would be greatly appreciated, cheers!

My family and me are planning on moving there next year. We just don't know where. The place should be affordable (housing) with low crime ratings.

One person would be arriving at Euston station, the other person would be arriving at King's Cross. Neither person knows London very well, but we don't mind using the tube if we have to. We're looking for a well known and easily identifiable landmark or something, preferably near shops, pubs, etc.

seriously how does that still happen in 2006?they are so crazy about how much they monitor our luggage for terrorism purposes, and like.....idk its somebody's job...meaning they get payed....to move that stuff around. How can we be so unorganized and unprofessional? It seems so simple. Where in the process of taking stuff off a conveyor belt and putting it on a plane does a bag get lost?

I'm planning a weekend trip to paris with my boyfriend later on this year, i have read a little in a couple of guidebooks, and websites etc, just wondered where the cheapest places to eat, stay (but still niceish, we dont want rats chewing our toes or anything) and visit? As I am a student the money is a big issue. Any suggestions would be most helpful. thanks.

The last time I was in Paris (two years ago) I loved putting together my own picnics at the different cheese, bread and wine shops. I can't tell you how many times I said to myself "I wish I had my Swiss Army knife!"

I also remember the metal detectors at the Louvre and other attractions, though. Does anyone know if I'd get in touble for carrying a Swiss Army in my bag (about 3" closed)? I certainly don't want to cause a scene every time I go into a public bldg.

I do not have a car, so getting to poughkeepsie and take the train from there is not an option. However, if anyone can tell me the cheapest way to get to poughkeepsie, it would be welcoming also.
