I can understand living in Manhattan in you are in the theater or modeling or some other artistic field that is a major industry there. But if you are a regular schmoe, why would you want to pay $2000 a month (or more) to live in a shoebox when there are so many wonderful places in the county in which... for the same money... you could live in a mansion (and still have money left over to do things!)

Ok.. I've been with my boyfriend over 3 1/2 years now and we want to get married and move in together officially. I am American and I'm 18. We met in November of 2003, and have lived in the same house as each other countless times with no problems. I've read links but I would like more information than they offer. What documents would we need to go to the appointment to apply? What reasons would they have to turn us down? What do we need to get approved? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm 18 and he's 21 if that helps at all. Do I need to go to the appointment with him? I'm so afraid that we will get rejected because he really does mean the world to me and all I want is a future with him. I'm desperate for information so I can be as prepared as possible. Does he need his own house?? Thank you all for reading and answering.
