Ok.. I've been with my boyfriend over 3 1/2 years now and we want to get married and move in together officially. I am American and I'm 18. We met in November of 2003, and have lived in the same house as each other countless times with no problems. I've read links but I would like more information than they offer. What documents would we need to go to the appointment to apply? What reasons would they have to turn us down? What do we need to get approved? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm 18 and he's 21 if that helps at all. Do I need to go to the appointment with him? I'm so afraid that we will get rejected because he really does mean the world to me and all I want is a future with him. I'm desperate for information so I can be as prepared as possible. Does he need his own house?? Thank you all for reading and answering.

(The country is Wales, and I am from Pennsylvania...)

I've already lived there 6 months so I know how expensive it is. I don't have a job and we're not yet married. He can't move here because he isn't allowed back here. He got mugged in D.C. and was in the hospital so it made him overstay his visa and they won't let him come back... and plus he writes music there and he couldn't write his music and DJ and be successful living here. I have to move there.

Yeah, I love Porthcawl! We used to go there every weekend and went into the Hi Tide Arcade. I'm looking forward to going back but I won't be going back until December, it'll be too cold to do Porthcawl then I think.

I am American, I am origanilly from Alaska, I dated a Uk citizen in America, we dated a year, while meeting his family in the UK he proposed to me, I accepted and we decided to marry in the US, so we married in the US, then imedietly after we were married we few back to UK (beecause Husband owned a Big Bungilow over there. I got over there with not knw ing to what to expect, being new to the UK and all. So after living over there for six months I decided I wanted to work again as I did back home in US(culinary chef), so my husband had to telephone the Local DHHS( every county has there own office) , had to make an appointment. Since I was marrieed to a UK citizen I was allowed to work freely, i just had to wait for a National Insurance Number, it took about 2-3 weeks to get one. We lived over there for 4 years and 9 months. (Notice how I was counting the days). I really loved living over there, we lived very comfortablly and I loved the local Town I lived in, but I swear the inflation over there is rediculus, seemed every year council tax and all utilities were rising 12% or the Country were finding more and more things to tax or charge for. I'am Not kidding you will find out for yourself. When I first moved there Petrol was like 75 or 76 p a litre( about $ 1.50 ) x 4 so it was like 5.50 dollors a gallon, and that was in early 2001. Now it is around 92 pence a litre which makes it about 3 pound somthing a gallon, which converted to American dollors would make it 8 or nine dollors a gallon. VAT as I can remember was 17.5 % on everything we bought. That means Tax again. So after nearly 5 years we decided to move back to the US, we have been over hear 2 years on the 24th in a few days. i can honestly say I really liked living over there because there was so much culture and history, but we just saw that economiclly the cost of living just kept going up and up. And when we left in 2004 the city of London put a 5 pound congestion charge because of the traffic problems they had, now from what I have heard on BBC news it went up to 8 pound converted to US is 16 dollors imagine all the people who have to travel every day to work that is 8 pound a day. So do you really think it is worth moving over there? I know you really care about your british boyfriend. But weigh the pro's and con's out. With the up coming olyimpics in london I suspect there going to need more funding fot there cause, yet again more taxing.Take Care.
