I am from Akansas and every new year they show the ball drop live from New York. How do they show it live when we are one hour ahead?

Maybe because your IN A DIFFERENT TIME ZONE than they are! If your 1 hour ahead of them it doesn't matter, its still live. For example, Saturday Night Live when it is shown live is shown at 11:30pm eastern standard time so that means that its really 10:30 central standard time and 9:30 mountian standard time and 8:30 pacific. It still being shown live during that hour, thats whats really happening right then. Its not taped or pre-recorded.

Cause they just can't go and write (Dead) on your screen ... :)
