Im moving to Austin August 15th, I dont know anyone in texas and was interested in the college apartments just to meet people...but ppl are telling me that they arent that great or safe...so what are some good places to look into?

I'm am starting to plan a road trip from Memphis to Alaska and back for next summer for myself and maybe 3 friends. Just wondering if anyone has some tips for road trip success? Any great places to mt climb, camp, hike, etc on the way that you've been too? How about in Anchorage, what is worth doing? Cheap yet quality train tickets, rental cars, bus tickets for the trip?

Anyone here ever done the same thing?

I am thinking of going to Panama, I was there long ago, 1973 when I was back packing to South America. I only stayed 3 days in the city, well outside of the city but I did not travel then to much. Now I would like to return. Where are the nicest mountians , are there good places to explore, back pack, I want to do some kayacking or white water rafting. i am not so much into cities, unless there old and historic. Any sugestions where to go and how is October for a visit. Thanks for answers.

Like a location with other things to do. I would like to swim with the dolphins, go whale watching, scuba dive and maybe parasail.
I could horseback ride into the mts.(if not too far, my derierre is 62 yro and hasn't a ride since like 1995. I just want to have fun.

What do you think is the most boring city out there? like not some middle of nowhere desert town, but some developed places that are still EXTREMELEY dull. I THINK hands down it is SAN JOSE (aka silicon valley). not to mention it is the 10th biggest U.S city and it still blows.

Whats your opinion?
