I saw the movie "Bride and Predjuice". The American man mentions he doesn't want to get Delhi belly. I am guessing it a form of food illnessl

Delhi belly has two connotations

1. The big huge pot belly resulting from ingesting incredible amounts of Chat, chowmein, whisky, stuffed parathas, Chiken leg pieces and chole bhature often dripping with pure ghee

2. The incredible appetite for corruption and swindling public money using corrupt politicians

What goes in has to come out and hence the expression Delhi belly for foreigners means a belly upset due to overeating

delhi belly noun. Diarrhea or dysentery contracted from eating Indian (i.e., from India) food. Also Karachi crouch.

It´s an illness from food or poor water that causes upset stomach and diarrhoea. Because sanitation and conditions vary in India so much, you must be very careful about what you consume there.
