10 hrs is pretty close- but a bit too long in my experience. I've done it in approx. 8. Of course I did speed a bit...80-85 mph. But honestly, it's the most boring drive in the country. NOTHING around for miles at a time- not even a tree. Be sure your car's up for the drive (and check the spare tire), b/c if you break down...the vultures will circle...

By car, not at rush hour(s), road time should be about 10 hours. That doesn't include having to stop for minor inconveniences like gas, food, and toilets! (Oh, don't forget the occasional cup of Joe!)

Straight through 8 hours 45 minutes per mapquest

with bathroom/gas breaks add another (however long it takes you to accomplish these tasks twice at least)
