i'm training to make it to the juniors olympics for the 400m and maybe the 200 or 800 as well. and i have a pretty good workout, but my times haven't been improving that much in the past few months.

right now i run about a 59.0/58.0

my workout consists of runing 6 times a week for about 45 minutes to an hour and a half. i also do ab work every day, and every other third day or so i do hill sprints...

I used to be an avid runner, racking up to 30 miles a week in the past. I have not run for about 3 months now, and everything feels so lazy and atrophied... How can I start it back up again? My cardio system has deteriorated too and it's very discouraging. What's a good plan of action?

I'm a sprinter and jumper in track and field. I posted a question asking if I am able to train with plantar fasciitis earlier. This time I want to know if I do train with pf, would it make my condition worse? I am a sprinter and a jumper.

My blisters from long runs are taking longer to recover than my muscles. How can I speed it up. Is there any medication? I've already reduced the severity of blisters with band-aids and blister prevention anti-perspirant, but am running 15-20+ miles every Saturday and want to continue doing so.

K- I have really good endurance, but I'm terrible with speed, and its really really holding me back. The fastest quarter I've ever done is 66. That is so pathetic...I train on quarters and I run as hard as I can, but at a certain point if I run any faster than my 66 quarter, my legs turn to jelly and get so weak I fear I'll fall- I simply can't go any faster than my 66. I can do an 80x8 though, so I have endurance. How can I improve at speed? If I run my 66 quarter my legs are shaking like mad...what can I do? I need to do speed work.

Im wondering how many times i need to run a week to reach my goal to run in the low 50's for a 400 in track. Last year i ran a 52. I have about 33 days tell track starts. My mom thinks i need to be running 5 times a week. But i think i need to be running 3-4 times a week to just get started back into running and as track gets close i would start running 5-6 times a week. I try to tell my mom i need to start out slowly and gradually work and run farther as time goes on, but she beehives i need to start out hard and run far and fast 5 times a week. Who is right?

So maybe I'm missing something completely obvious here, but does anybody know this supposed "inside running joke" about buying gloves in "sets of three"? The guys on my team find it hysterical (and completely out of the question to explain it to me).. that's why I'm a little nervous about asking. Can anybody explain this to me?

I have recently ran the 2007 Disney Half Marathon!!! It was a blast seeing as how I love running and Disney! My time was 2 hours and 40 mins. I am a 14 year old male... I didn't have near as much training as I needed. After Cross Country season my running schedual got a little off. I think I did good for my first half! Especially with the fact we were in the last corral and had to weave through thousands of people all day. What do think? Thanks!

I am a long distance cross country runner, my best times are:
3 miles: 19.20
2 miles: 12.00
1 mile: 5.57
If I want to improve my times and have just started swimming on a swim team will this help my endurance and running times? Also which is a better exercise that burns more calories and works more muscles?

I have not timed myself in a long time, run for fun/stress relief. This evening though, ran a 5 minute 39 second mile and had some in the tank afterwards. I'm 28 years old, 5'5, 130lbs. Am I kidding myself, or is breaking into 4 minutes feasible for me? I have no specific regiments or training...run when I feel like it...rest when my body tells me. Also, What is considered an olympic time?

I wear out my shoes on the outside corner of my heels. I used run in Asics 2110 GT's but after 3 months and 20-25 miles per week, i began experiencing pain in my right knee. I've been taking it easy on running and on the hunt for a new shoe. The sporting goods store I went to suggested a motion control shoe, I tried the Adidas Supernova Control but that seemed to cause ankle pain, doubled my knee pain and added lower back pain. How is the wear n tear on Asics? Is it normal to replace a shoe after 3 months? Any suggestions for a good cushioned running shoe? Help! I miss running!

I recently started walking/jogging/running 4 miles a day...good old New Year's resolution...and now I have a pinching type pain on the mid to lower part of the outside of my knee. I don't think this is the runner's knee that I've been reading about. Is it just a kind of arthritis pain or maybe I tweaked it a bit or what? Is there a brace I could wear? What about those joint things that people wear with the little gel packs in them? Obviously I am so not an athlete and never was, so any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I have 38DD's and am in need of a really supportive sports bra so that I can run. I really enjoy running, but it's not very comfortable to have your breasts hit you in the face=).
I have several different bras, but I can't find one that is extra supportive, I have even used regular bras, but they aren't that great either.
Any suggestions would be really appriciated...Thanks.

I've never ran a half-marathon before, but I'm planning on doing either the Cincinatti Flying Pig or May 6th or Cleveland Rite-Aid on May 20th. I'm not going for speed or anything, just doing it for "fun" with some friends. I'm in-season for college swimming until February 17th, so wouldn't be able to run much until after then. (also, I'm in Ohio and it's cold here!) Does anyone have a running schedule I could follow for 12-14 weeks up to the marathon?
