I have been told that it is not possible for a man to 'go' while on the move - is this true, has anyone successfully managed it? I think it must be easier for women, what do you think?

I'm a 14 year old girl who is a freshman in high school. I run the 800m and I have the best freshman time. I run it in 2:34. I have sectional's in exactly 1 week (7 days) from today.

I am DESPERATE to drop my time!! I really wan't a 2:30.
I know dropping 4 seconds in 1 week may be hard, but really guys i'll do WHATEVER i need to!

I'm pretty consistant too, by the way.

* I need any workout that will improve my speed. I have a whole week till the race.
Also what should i eat the day before, and the day of the race?

Thank you so much guys, your help is VERY appreciated!

I am 190lbs. and only 5 feet tall. I realise I need to get into shape but everytime i approach weight loss head on i always stray and fail. I had an idea, I thought setting a goal to complete a half marathon (13.1miles) by september 23 this year I would accomplish a goal and lose weight in the process. Kind of psyching myself out i guess you would say. I just want to know if there are any runners out there that think that this is realistic. You know for a girl almost 200lbs to train for 4 months and be in good enough shape to run that long distance. please let me know....is my goal unrealistic?

My best 800m run this season which is now over for me due to being inelligable for CIF is 1:57.78 as a Junior. I was wondering wether I should take off the winter season and just run about 3 miles a day after XC or do Indoor track. I'm not very worried about trying to get scouts looking at me as that's already been happening a lot. My goal Senior year is for atleast 1:55 in my 800 peaked, not so as I burn out half way through the season. I would only like answers from experienced runners or coaches. This is just another opinion from what I have asked my coaches.

I am starting a new running program, based on this article. I'm not trying to lose weight, just get in better shape.

http://www.wikihow.com/begin-running...

I read on this site that it is important to stretch before starting to run. but i also read that it is important to warm up before stretching. does that mean that exercise is required before i stretch before i exercise? if that is what that means, is walking the 4 1/2 blocks to the gym sufficient? Also, what stretches should i do? please give me instructions.

also, what are some tips to make sure i stick to this? i'm not trying to lose weight.

I can stretch my shins and calves pretty well, but my inner calf, ankles and the bottoms of my feet seem prone to a few aches after I run. I strongly believe some good stretches before and after would help. Do you have any to suggest? By the way, I don't think its a shoe problem, but I will look into that just to be sure. Thanks!

I am running in the race for life event at silverstone, northamptonshire (UK) on June 13th.

This is very important to me as my younger brother (aged 13 when he first got it ) has recently recovered from secondary cancer after approx 4 years.

I therefore want to do something to be able to say thankyou to the people and science that made it possible for my brother to survive.

I therefore wondered whether anyone would help me in raising money. I have set up an online fundraising page together with the race for life people that provides a secure way for money to be donated online and sent directly to cancer research Uk.

I would love it if you would take a look and let other people know who might want to sponser me. Thank you.

P.S Thank you to those who have already sponsered me. It means a lot. xxxx

do you think it will be possible for me to shed 6 seconds on my 400?
this will be my second time running it (usually i run the mile instead of the 400 m run and it took me this long to figure out i wanted to run the 400 instead of the 1600) . i want to try and break the school record which is 60 seconds flat and on wednesday i got a 1:06 and that was with no close competition everyone else was about 8 seconds behind me and it was my first time running it this season. my last track meet is tommorow and do you think it is possible for me to shed 6 seconds.

I will be running my first marathon (The Honolulu Marathon on Dec. 9) and I was wondering if anyone has any good websites or advice on training. I have 6 months, so I am sure that is plenty of time to train, but I want to make sure I approach training right so I can avoid injury. Any input would be appreciated!
