yes it is... i am around your age and can run it in under 18
but this is great if you dont run that often or that hard(i am in a track club) if u really want to improve try to run 5-6 times a week for about 4-12km a time. also do some weights and maybe try a sport that will benifit your running, like soccer, biking, basketball, or swimming(it is a great one). also try to run lots of races to gain expeirance. running with some one else, who is faster than you or listening to music also helps.
last but definitely no least make sure that u have fun and enjoy it!!!
hope that this helped and good luck

You're about high school age and the "average" male varsity cross country runner runs about a 19:00. So for now, your time is a little above average. (Just a comparison: the average girl runs about a 22:00)
I'm assuming by asking this question that you are a beginning runner. If you are doing cross country or track, a season of training should yield amazing results. Don't worry about times and how you compare with others yet, just train until you are in good shape. You have the statistics and body to be a pretty good runner, shorter and light weight, and you should be in the 20:00 range by the end of the season, if not faster.

Im a 14 year old girl and the first 5K I ever ran was a 23:02.
Your time is a little above average.
You need to count miles each week (meaning do like 20 miles each week which is like 3 miles a day.
Also run some 800's too, it will help you with your speed/finishing power!
Good luck! :)

I hate average--do you mean average of everyone in the world. If so average would probably be near an hour. Average among runners--well much better perhaps 30. My son could do a 5k in about 16:30. He placed 11th at the Colorado high school cross country championship. So, be better than average (you are already) and improve (because you are young).

that's pretty good. i am 16 and i run a 19:30, but i usually come in second for my age group (my running friend is faster than me). i think that if you train at a faster pace you will be able to get your time down a bit more, also try some speed workouts. the first response is wrong, a 5K is 3.1 not 3.5 miles.

That is not a bad time for a 5k. However there is definitly room for improvement. Keep up the good work.

You'll continue to improve by training on your own and/or with your high school x-c/track teams. As long as you train well, have fun and compete to the best of your ability, then the times will take care of themselves. The watch is important, but tells only part of the story.

Its not bad, but once you grow or gain more experience it will improve. A 5k is not 3.5 miles by the way, its about 3.125 miles.
