It is better if you run close to the same time, not just for every mile, but for every lap. This is good pacing. If you run faster the second half that is called a negative split. The really good runners run negative splits because many of them are strong enough to spring at the end.

Is pretty much impossible to run 2 miles at the same speed. Of course the first will be faster, you become more fatigued as you run. You are right to be worried about times for the second mile, but dont expect to run even mile splits in a race.

In terms of training, I would suggest running longer distances, at least an average of 15 miles a week mixed in with 1000s and sprint workout. 1000s are a very good workout because you are running at a relatively fast pace for about 2/3 of a mile. By cutting down on rest in between as you improve, your will find that you will be capable or running faster for longer periods of time.

The race itself needs to be broken down into 4ths. The first 800 start off strong, try to stick to the lead pack. By the 2nd 800, fatigue is probably starting to kick in, so just hold on and cruise. By the 3rd 800, most people have slowed down quite a bit. This is the part of the race that if you concentrate on and train for, can drastically improve your time. When it comes cutting times for any race, the first suggestion is to look at the third fourth of the race. One possible workout is to run 1000s, 800s, 600s or whatever distance in sets of 4. On the 3rd repeat, push yourself to run faster than the previous two. This trains you to keep concentration during the hardest part of the race. The last 800 of the 2 mile lends itself to faster time because you will be excited to be almost done with the race, and will surely pick up the pace or sprint the last 200 and cut down that 800 split.

Ask your coach how to improve that 3rd 800, and you'll soon find yourself setting a new PR! Good luck.

Ok.. What I could do is take it handy in these days...Make definite to stretch earlier than you run. Then take it handy the primary mile, no longer too handy you must be competent to do a million mile in approximately 6-7 minutes comfortably. Then step it up a pair notches for the following a million/two mile, you must be competent to try this in approximately two-three minutes. So we're as much as a million.five miles and eight-10 minutes. So at the final a million/two mile run as difficult as you'll. When you're performed jogging make certain to not crouch down. Keep your fingers at the again of your head and stroll round slowly. Get a few water in the event you ought to however do not crouch down. It will harm extra. When I run I discover it simpler to run if I concentrate to a MP3 participant or whatever to get my brain off of it. Don't fear you can be quality. Hope this is helping.

It actually is possible to run the same time or shorter on your 2nd mile it is almost required as a college soccer to run 2 miles in 12 minutes or less. It takes a lot of training and breathing techniques. As long as you train hard and continuously you will get it.
