So I went running tonight around 9:45 and it was still around 90 degrees, if not a little warmer, and the heat was horrible. It felt like hot air was blowing on my face while I was running too.

I'm trying to not stop while I run and am trying to run about an hour, like I do in the winter time, but this is tough.

So how do you deal with the heat?

And yes, I do drink plenty of water, I'm trying to not run as fast as I do in the winter time, and I wear light clothing as well.

I got a new pair of shoes to run in over the summer since my old pair was beaten up after track...i've got prolly 35-40 miles on them and they work great except for one thing..i get pain on my second toe from the left on my right foot...in other words the toe next to my big toe...its not a blister, but it looks to be wearing down the nail so when i cut it, even when its long its tough and sometimes painful...every other toe on either foot is fine..is it that my toe is longer than the others, or pronation or what?

I need a stability shoe. I have the Brooke's Adrenaline GTS but it doesn't have enough cushion. Any qualified suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I just noticed a little advertisement on the Yahoo! Answers page that said "If you can't talk and run at the same time, your running too fast" or something along those lines. I'm not saying every day has to be a really hard run and that runners need an easy day to recover. But Reebok seems to be saying that running hard is bad. They seem to try and market their shoes by trying to make running an easier sport when it is not. Running is hard. I think that some will look at their slogan and say 'Wow, Run Easy, OK!' and think a 5K race is a cake-walk.

I'm always out of breath and feel like I'm dying when I run. I used to run a lot a few years ago, but not lately. Is there any way to increase my endurance and improve my breathing?

I am running to get fit, which excited my niece, and now she wanted to join me in the mornings. She is 16 years old. she wants to run 6 miles daily just like me. but i've heard that running too much isn't good for teens' bones. she is still 16 and well, still sorta growing. so i don't want her to develop any knee problems because running too much. but on the other hand, i don't know is that's true, because no matter what, exercise is always good for your body, right?
should her run 6 miles ???? please give me facts!!!

I am a cross country & track runner (so i run long distances)

the arches of my feet are REALLY low (my feet are pretty flat) & my low arches also cause my feet to turn inward when i run, which, in turn, gives me shin splints.

so, i know i need a motion control shoe.

i went to one sports store, where i was told that good shoes for me would be Asics Gel Nimbus VIII. THen, i went to another store where i was told that the best shoes for me would be Asics GT-2120.

The Asics GT-2120 have a piece of dark grey material near where the arch is (the rest of the sole is white), which, the guy in the store told me, means that the material in the arch is stronger than the rest of the sole, so it will prevent my foot from turning inward. he said unless a shoe has that grey piece near the arch, it will not be good for my foot type/running style.

The Asics Gel Nimbus VIII do not have this grey patch, however i was told at the other store that they would provide arch support

Everyday for the rest of the summer, I plan to sprint/jog as far as I can for as long as I can. I hope to increase my speed and stamina. Any tips besides stretching?

That's the way I am. I can run forever but I'm really not that fast (It might be because I'm just getting back into running because of a Pe class I'm taking...but even before I really wasen't that fast) is there anyway I can change this? or is it just the way I am?¿

I've never been to Nashville. What's the terrain like? Are there good parks/trails or are you stuck on roads and sidewalks?

I've been searching the internet for a good pair of running shoes for someone with flat feet....I never knew what 'motion control' was before, but it's apparently a feature I should look for since I am flat-footed. But will it really make a difference, versus another shoe that doesn't have 'motion-control'?

Obviously if they are torn or 20 years old, its time to get a new pair. But is there any way to tell, any test??

(BTW I wear my running sneakers to the gym only. Three times a week, 20 minutes on the treadmill and 40 minutes off weights)
