Does the snub nose revolver pack less of a puch or is it less accurate because it has a shorter shaft or is it the same as a regular revolver.

i have a lab puppy at 8 months old, he is a hunting dog but i havnt been able to take him duck hunting because he seems to get to cold. i took him in my boat when i went scouting and it was like high 40s (i live in texas) so it wsnt even that cold, but he just started shivering really bad, so i tried to wrap him up in my jacket but he didnt want to and he wanted to go jump in the water and stand on the front of the windy boat, so it didnt seem to bother him to much, but he just kept shaking so bad. i think he might be cold because hes so skinny, he eats all day long but he just keeps growing and hasnt really filled out yet could that have something to do with it? what should i do, should i not worry about it and take him hunting or is that not a good idea, he wants to go and i really want him to come with me becaus he loved it when i took him dove hunting.

I have a dog i want to try to train for coon hunting and he is a little over a year old. He turned one in Mid-July. He has had expeirience with coyote hutnig and can follow a trail, and has learned a few basic coon hunting tricks i taught him earlier. Do you think he is too old to leanr more or not? I dont need him to know everyting just a littel more than the basic like tricks and barking up the tree and when he is on one. He doesnt bark alot.

I am looking for a good rifle caliber to use at the range. I am looking for something that is going to be accurate over medium to long distances, not kick my shoulder off, and be cheap and easy to get ammo.

Right now I have a taurus .357 but frankly its just a bit too bulky for me to be carrying around in my normal clothes. Another concern I have is on the over penetration of the .357 round, possibly going through an assailant and hitting someone else, I've been considering a few different compacts and the ppk probably sits the most comfortably in my hand, my only concern is if the 380 packs enough punch. My shot placement isn't a problem however I don't know what the actual knockdown of the 380 is like against an attacker.

This will be my first year hunting. I want to hunt bear, deer and turkey. I am 5'5' female, with a medium frame. I am considering the Remington 870 Express as my first shotgun. I base this choice on research. Would this be a good choice given my size. I want something that is not too heavy or awkward.

I was planning on buying a Springfield XD 4" 9mm, but at the range the other day I was given the advice to get a 40 cal XD and switch out the barrel to shoot 9mm. I can see how the versatility would be nice to have (right?), but I'm not that experienced with gun repair and wanted to see what the community's opinion is on the matter. So... what do you all think?

I am thinking about getting a gun my intensions are to...
-range
-shooting squirell, bird, ground hogs, chip monks, possible coyote hunting.
-Home Pertection
I was at first looking at a Ruger 10/22 I know they are Really upgradeable and they can shoot birds and everything but they might not be good for home pertection. ALSO can it shoot both .22lr and .22shorts?
Then I was looking at a 12 Gauge shotgun. I was looking at the New England 12 Gauge single shot. But I don't know if it would be good for at the range and everything. There is a MASSIVe selection of different ammo to buy for a 12 gauge.(bird, buck, slug)
what about a 20 Gauge?

This will be my first Gun to own. It is deffenatly not the first gun I've shot.

I want to get different Opinions which to buy and what would be the best. Can you help me?

I recently asked if scoping my Ruger 10/22 would be practical and several users all gave me a thumbs up to do it but they all seemed to add one detail: the rifle has to be new. My grandpa gave me my 10/22 after only about a half year's worth of use spread over the past twenty years. Other than the obvious signs of use (rim marks on the receiver, dirt in the bolt mechanism that can easily be cleaned, ect.) the rifle is in great condition. Would it effect a scope if it isn't new?

By top loading I mean that the magazine is inserted through the breach not through the hand grip.
