i have a lab puppy at 8 months old, he is a hunting dog but i havnt been able to take him duck hunting because he seems to get to cold. i took him in my boat when i went scouting and it was like high 40s (i live in texas) so it wsnt even that cold, but he just started shivering really bad, so i tried to wrap him up in my jacket but he didnt want to and he wanted to go jump in the water and stand on the front of the windy boat, so it didnt seem to bother him to much, but he just kept shaking so bad. i think he might be cold because hes so skinny, he eats all day long but he just keeps growing and hasnt really filled out yet could that have something to do with it? what should i do, should i not worry about it and take him hunting or is that not a good idea, he wants to go and i really want him to come with me becaus he loved it when i took him dove hunting.

Feed him a high fat diet before you fellows go out. A stick of butter added to his feed will give him the calories necessary to stay warm for hours. Cold water dogs need plenty of calories....and it sounds like he's not getting enough with him growing and all.

They can be considered a puppy for as long as two (2)* years.* Have you had him checked by a Vet just to rule out any health problems?* His feeding may need to be increased because of being a working hunting Dog. Best Regards to your hunting companion & hope things turn out alright for you both.*

You could get him a jacket/vest like the Remington one below.

No chance he's just excited? High on the adrenalin rush of hunting?

if it extremely is in common terms distant coolness perchance no longer yet once you experience that it is getting chillier and chillier as time is going on then yeah, some thing unfavourable is occurring. If it only grew to become as we communicate then, in all possibility some thing else is troubling him and he only would not % to convey you into it.
