I just bought a modle 710 in .300 win at wal-mart on sale for $250 and had nothing but problems with the pos, first when I put the rifle together I noticed a spot on the bolt that had not been blued I tried to take it back to the store but they said that I would have to call rem I did and they sent me a new bolt handle assembly instead of just sending a whole new bolt assembly well I just thought no big deal just brake the bolt down like I was going to clean it and then reassemble using the new part well guess what the end cap on the firing pin ***. is made of plastic and broke.I have owned a few Remingtons and Im shcoked on how poor this rifle is made. well again wal-mart said that they would not take it back can Iget rem to buy it back or mabe upgrade me to a 770.I thought when I bought a REMINGTON the name would say it all and that I had just found one hell of a deal boy was I wrong!Hell I have not even fired the thing yet and it is already out of service D.O.A I guess.

I don't know much about guns, but I want to buy a shotgun as my first gun. I'll probably keep it forever and use it a lot before buying anything else. I was told by a shop keeper to get a 20 gauge but my uncle told me to get a 12 gauge. Whats the difference between the gauges? I want to use it to shoot birds when hunting (duck, geese, whatever else i can hunt here in Texas) and also for shoot practice shots at the range (clay flyers). What would you suggest as a good gauge and gun for me to buy? I'm willing to spend at most 500 but who knows, I'm new to this and don't know how much i should be spending for a good gun. Oh and i think i want a semi-auto gun not a pump action, but i'm still not sure. please help.

There are some many ways to hide your firearm around your home for protection...or just wear it 24/7......
How do you hide yours?

...not a drive to the campsite and set-up camp thing. A leave the vehicle, and go out on foot for week thing. Not alone. With at least one friend along...

I know a good backpack, good shoes, and clothes appropriate to the season, so leave those out, please. We all know that.

What are the top three things (not a pack, shoes, or seasonal clothes) you think of to make sure you bring?

I am looking for a used trailor 20-30' long that would suit one person and a dog. Would you recommend going to an RV store or out of someone's yard? I've kind of been looking all summer but I can't find one I like (I have no use for a bed AND bunk beds ets.) in my price range (up to $8,000). Also, is planning on living in this thing for a while feasible? I don't know what climate I'll be in yet. Finally, would a 1993 Ford Explorer be able to pull it? Any tips are appreciated.

Does anyone know what kinds of bullets can be stoped/rendered un-lethal by the sheetmetal of a cardoor?
I'm just curious because I saw a car door with the paneling off, and it didn't look thick enough to stop an air rifle! Thanks!

So I'm pretty new to climbing (well, other than bouldering, I've been doing that for years. I have good shoes, harness, carabiner, and belay device, but I'm trying to buy a rope now.

All the ropes I saw at REI were $150+, and I just don't have that much to spend.

So I looked online, but am getting confused by all the different types and thicknesses. Like what's the main difference the thickness makes?

Anyways, I just want a good all around rope that I can use for both rapelling, and lead climbing. I'll probably be doing a lot more rapelling than I will lead climbing, so I need one that can stand up to all that rapelling, but still be suitable for lead climbing when I need to. I'll just be doing fair weather climbing, and doubt I'll ever go above 50 feet, at least not anytime soon.

What would be a good type and thickness, and where is a good place to find a great deal. I'm trying to spend about $60-$100

I'm new to deer processing and was told if you didn't know what to look for (when butchering) you could end up butchering/eating a deer that gets you really sick. I wouldn't shoot/eat a deer that looks sick, but what do you need to look for when field dressing or butchering that would be a red flag?

I looked up the serial number, well it is the only number that was on the gun. It was located just infront of the trigger well. So I dont know if it is from the Mauser action. This is a very strange rifle I just got from my Grandpa, his dad made it I guess. The barrel is from a 257 Roberts Model 70 sportster that has been retreaded and rechamber in 250 Savage. The action is a true german action that was made in 1948 according to the stamp and it shoots wonderful. I have only shot at 50 yards but i am willing to guess it is pretty close to sub-MOA. I was just wonder about the value for insurance purposes as I have come to the conclusetion that it is either worth quite a bit or not a whole lot. Thanks for the help.

Does anyone know where I could go boar hunting the Southern California? I'm assuming there are ranches that offer this service but I'm looking for something not as expensive.

Is there a place I could go to and just publicly hunt the land without having to pay an outrageous amount? What would that entail?

Thanks in advance!

What is a .30 caliber? Is it one particular gun or is it any gun that has a 30 in the size such as 300 or 30-06?

The reason I ask is
Exceptions: Bobcat and coyote may be taken during day light hours with archery equipment, firearms no larger than .30 caliber or shotguns with shot no larger than T shot. Bobcat and coyote may be taken during daylight hours of any open deer, bear, spring turkey or spring squirrel season with hunting equipment legal for that season.

I am a "weekend warrior" and I have little space for hunting, so I don't always get to "hunt the wind." I am using a muzzle-loader in a ground blind.

Anyone out there with tips on scent elimination? Last year I used a scent-away spray, and I was not impressed with it. At least 3 bucks got down wind from me and knew I was there. A lot of the hunting shows seem to push their sponcer's product, so it's hard to distinguish an advertisement from the truth. Which products have brought you success?
