I want to buy a small, .38 special revolver to use for conceal carry. I prefer to shoot revolvers single action rather than double action. However, am I taking a risk by buying a double action revolver with an exposed hammer rather than a concealed hammer? I have tried the shrouded hammer revolvers and don't like them. I like shooting single action much better but I am worried the hammer could accidentally snag on something and cock while in my pocket. Should I play it safe and buy the hammerless revolver? Or will I be ok buying the exposed hammer version? I don't like the hammerless version (concealed hammer) as much because you have to shoot it double action. I don't want the gun going off in my pocket though cause the hammer catches on something. What are your thoughts?

Can someone help me find an orange vest for fall hunting.
Now, I would like a down vest, and I have seen three different ones. One is from an LL bean commercial from a few years ago that is reversible orange/blue. Second is the one this guy wears in this commercial.http://youtube.com/watch?v=q_G13P8NDQI&mode=related&search=
Lastly would be an old snap-up orange down vest with an extended back. Please, tell me if you can find these, or at least a mens orange down vest. Thank you

Now I know where the crappie are, but the trick is to catch them. We are fishing a river, only about 50 feet wide, but very deep (20 feet in the channel) with steep banks. There are dozens of fallen trees, perfect cover for the crapppie. Everything we learned about fishing for them in the lake is no longer valid. Basically, you have to anchor the boat at the end of a fallen tree, and use a long rod to drop bait in between the branches. (Lots of lost jigs).

I am looking for opinions on favorite shape, size and color of the jigs, along with favorite baits. Live bait (we use fatheads) or plastics? Tubes or panfish assasins? Any and all comments are welcome!

Caught about 10 crappie today, some pounders, and I am happy, but I WANT TO CATCH MY LIMIT!

Some poppers come with split rings but most do not. Do I get the best action by tying my line directly to the popper or via a split ring? I'm fishing for largemouth and stripers.

I know bolt action weapons are designed to be manually operated, but what if you held the bolt of a semiautomatic rifle for example closed while firing? Would it damage the gun or simply require you to cycle that round before contiuing. Even worse, would it cause a rupture or something more dangerous?

Im looking for a scope for my 8mm rifle. I bought a leapers scope for my AR for $50 and its held up perfect for a few years now. For more powerful guns are most expensive "higher quality" scopes necessary? or can i go with a $80 4-16x56mm leaper scope?

I've posted this before in pets section and didn't really get any useful information. I figure there's got to be some hunters with beagles with the same problem. My dog gets these ear problems constantly, brown waxy stuff builds up, she contstantly scratches at them and the ears have a very nasty smell. One ear is good and doesn't have much problem, but the other one constantly needs cleaning.

Based on the advice from my vet I clean out the ears from top to bottom with AloeCetic and then use q tips and cotton balls to clean the ear canals and ear. Then I let it dry and put Neosporin on it. I have to do this once or twice a week. The vet took some cultures and determined that it wasn't an infection. In a nutshell, he said to keep the dogs ears dry. I explained to him this was an outdoor dog in a very rainy state (WA) that is in the field a lot, so this isn't too practical. Does anyone have any other ideas I could try?

The rifle has a wood stock with a 7x10 magnifying scope on it. The scope isn't that expensive, it cost me $65 with install. How much is my rifle worth? I'm trying to sell it to someone who thinks its not worth what I'm asking.

I ordered the rack still attached to the skull plate but the skull plate was intact when i ordered it. i guess the mail carriers were pretty rough with the box and when i received the rack, the skull plate was broke in half. it is a pretty clean break and fits back together but i'm not sure if there is a way to get the skull plate to stay together.

.45 ACP (in a 1911)

.40 SW

.357 Magnum (with a 2" barrel)

12 ga. pump action shotgun

I need everything from reliability, to damage inflicted, stopping power, speed of powder burn (for the snubby), ease of feeding (for the 1911), hollowpoint vs. ball, muzzle velocity, penetration vs. over penetration, expansion and grain.

All that awesome stuff we all love to talk about so much.

I'm looking to change out some of my ammo to make these weapons more effective fight stoppers. Any links to articles, studies, ballistics test, etc. are much appreciated.

My husband promised me he'd take me fishing this year for striped bass. We live on Long Island in New York.

A few months ago he told me the best time for striper fishing is late September, early October. Now that that time has come, NOW the best time is late October, early November.

What I want to know, is where is the best places to go surf fishing on long island and when is the best time.

What should I use?
