Everyone here is focused on the .25 ACP cartridge and not on the gun itself..
The Bauer 25 ACP in Stainless Steel although discontinued, has the honor of being one of highest quality, finest hand fitted, semi-automatic,stainless steel pistols ever produced or manufactured in U.S. History. That is nothing to snub about. In their heyday they were a very popular gun carried by law enforcement officers and Detectives as a "back-up" gun. The fired and functioned flawlessly....They are considered a Collectible, even today despite the low power of the 25 ACP cartridge..A great gun to collect, but past it's practical use as a defensive weapon. I own 2 N.I.B in my own collection.

The Bauer .25 has been discontinued, but it has a good reputation. Nearly all of the "experienced" shooters will tell you a .25 caliber is too weak for a carry gun. What caliber do you carry? A .45. Where is it? At home. A big cannon is useless if it cannot be concealed and carried 24/7. True, a .25 caliber will probably bounce off an assailant's head, but multiple rounds to the torso are invariably fatal, because a doctor is going to have to "gut" you like a hog to find four or five .25 caliber bullets. Every individual should make his or her own decision about what firearm is appropriate for their use - forget the "expert" advice.

I've had my Bauer 25 for 28 years and like the guy from Detroit i made a wrong turn down a bad street in the bad part of town and was confronted by a young man who wanted my wallet, when i pulled out my little Twenty Five instead of my wallet he took off so you can't tell me anything bad about my Bauer.

It would be a very good gun to own if you wanted something to put on your desk to hold down single pieces of small paper; just don't have too much confidence in the caliber. If you shoot somebody or something with .25 cal you take a good chance of making them very, very angry and they will turn on you and teach you what the word pain means. Bauer was a nice little stainless auto but the caliber left much to be desired; I had one and traded it off; I wish it had been made in 22 long rifle.

Bauers, if you can find them, are EXTREMELY reliable & well-made concealed-carry pistols. While standard .25 ACP ammo (50-grain FMJs) are pretty anemic, Hornady makes a 35-grain hollow-point that will blow any attacker right out of their shoes within the caliber's effective range. I regularly carry a Beretta 950 Jetfire loaded with them as my CCW weapon & I've NEVER felt under-gunned.
As stated above, a .45 is nicer --- but it's usually sitting at home, not in your pocket or waistband.

The Bauer .25 acp? I didn't think it was being made anymore. But yes, it is a good design but the caliber leaves a lot to be desired. It is properly a 'vest-pistol' suitable for deep concealment but power-wise most inadequate. Still, it is better than being unarmed.
Good luck.

If you are looking for a SMALL Highly Concealable and RELIABLE pistol the Bauer is tough to beat. Period! Understanding it's intended purpose is where most of these mall nija's fail, A .25 under the chin WILL DROP ANYBODY. And none of these naysayers will offer to let you shoot them with your "girls pistol"

It's an almost exact copy of a Browning/FN Baby....there's not much else to be said.
It's reliable, it's accurate within about a ten yard range, and it'll go "bang" when you pull the trigger. Other than that, it's an incredibly weak caliber etc etc etc.
I'd consider it a girl's pistol but that's just me. It was marketed as one. That's why it sported those manly pearl grips. If you can find some wood or dark plastic Browning or FN grips, that's the first modification I'd make.
