1st you need to get the dog used to playing with an old antler(i usually just cut all the points off of an old shed, and round off the point of the main beam) then u start getting it to fetch it for ya,Finally while out of sight of the dog you hide the antler and try to get it to smell it out.( when mine find it and bring it to me i usually reward it with a small treat) good luck and watch 4 snakes

Pretty interesting question.I would think it would be cool if you could train a dog to do that specifically. I would wonder if the dog would be able to tell the difference between the antlers and any other "calcium" animal bone in the woods. I know as a former Police Detective that on more than one occasion when we called in canine "Cadaver Dogs" to locate homicide victims the dogs weren't able to tell the difference between human bones and animal bones.....Made life interesting to say the least.I'll be watching for other answers on this question. Hope someone can give you some help or insight on the subject....Good luck.

hmm good idea. not sure how to train one to do that but we used to have the laziest black lab you ever saw that we used to take mushroom hunting with us, he figured out what we were after and would go lay down beside them and wait for us to get there. we figured out what he was doing and got a crap load of shrooms from that dog so maybe its just a matter of taking the dog and letting it see what you are after. im sure they could probably smell them
