Well, you learned your first lesson. Never buy a gun from Wal-mart, Gander Mountain, Cabela's, Sportsman's Warehouse, etc. The big sign says absolutely no returns. Once you bought it, if anything is wrong YOU are resposible for shipping it to the manufacturer for repair.

Maybe next time you will visit a local small shop gun dealer who is more interested in customer service. You get what you pay for. The few extra dollars prevents headaches.

By the way, Remington doesn't have a repair center. They farm it out to about 95 gunsmiths around the country.

Hey JD, think you might be seeing this one?

Sorry to hear about that. But the modle 710 is not a very good rifle. I think Remington is doing more harm keeping the 710 in production than just letting it fade away.

Sorry you're having all those problems. By all means contact Remington about 'making it right.' There should be an address, web-address or possibly even an '800' number in the paperwork. If someone tells you to take it up with Wal-Mart very politely, but firmly point out, "This is a Remington product..."

Good luck.

I know it's a pain.. But just keep working on Remington they will make it right..
I had the same problem with Beretta..And after 3 send backs it works..
And since you bought it a Wal-Mart they should be doing the shipping and recieving so it should not be costing you anything out of pocket..
I spent about $100 bucks with my Beretta problem they sent me a check for $75 afew months later..
The best company firearm company I have had with repairs was Springfield..sights broke, they sent me a shipping label and I had the pistol fixed and returned in (4 Days)..I could not believe it!!!!!

Contact Remington. Most firearm manufacturers will make it right. They do not want the liability of a malfunctioning firearm.

If you can, get a 1-800 number, and talk to their customer support.

These are their repair services, but I think it should straight to Remington to make it right for you.

Be polite, and tell them how disappointed you are with the product you have received. Mention how much of a horrible experience this has been and that as a repeat Remington purchaser, you are very disappointed with this.

The least they will do is make it right. The best, they might get as frustrated trying to fix it as you have been, and upgrade the rifle.

I really appreciate hearing about this. I was planning on buying a couple of the Remington 710 rifles as gifts for my Grandsons. Think I'll take another look at the Savage rifles. . .

File a complaint with the store manager. Satisfaction was guaranteed and you were not satisfied. Emphasize the fact that no where were you informed that satisfaction guaranteed does not apply to all purchases. Demand satisfaction (you probably won't get it). File a complaint with the HQ in Bentonville. Go over the same points, you may get action but it might take a while. If you have a consumer protection agency in your state file a complaint with them. Their "Satisfaction Guaranteed" policy may have the force of law. Once again you may have to wait a while since the wheels of justice grind a little slowly. You may need to wait until next season for that new rifle, but you may get lucky. Even if you have to send it back to Remington they will probably have it back to you fairly quickly.

No Remington will NOT buy your rifle back...As a Remington Dealer and Factory Authorized Repair Center for 20 years here in Maryland, I can assure you that Remington will make your firearm repairs at no cost to you. You can fill out a repair request online and Remington will in turn send you a pre-paid shipping label to return you firearm for service, or will authorize you to take your firearm to a local Authorized Remington Repair Facility closest to where you live......

You don't need me to tell you that Wal-mart might have good products at "cheap" prices..But this is a perfect example how they DON'T stand behind what they sell. There is no reason why they couldn't have offered to exchange your rifle with a NEW one from in stock at the store you purchased it from.
Go online to Remington.com and fill out the e-mail request for warranty repairs. They are great about getting back to you fast with answers and help with repair issues like yours........

Ah, a familiar problem.
Walmart sold me a Daisy .22 rimfire bolt action years ago thatr never did work. Although they claimed no-returns on firearms, After sending it to the local gunsmith they use(?), and being informed by Him that it was junk, and He couldn't fix it, They damn well DID give me my money back, AND stopped carrying the Daisy rifle as well. Of course, Daisy, is an airgun manufacturer, which never should have attempted to delve into the manufacture of real firearms...A project they have since ceased. Contact Remington. Mail them photocopies of your recipt, as well as any correspondance between them/you/Walmart. They can likely sort out the problem. Have you considered taking it to a local gunsmith, having it fixed, and sending Wally World the bill? Ask if the'll pay it willingly, then if not, take them to small claims court. Walmart HATES bad press, and will likely pay the bill if served with papers rather than go to court. The general Manager DOES HAVE AUTONOMY IN DECIDING TO HELP YOU OUT ON THIS MATTER! That's why they wound up eating that Daisy .22!
