Depends what you are looking for. SP101 comes in a 2.25 in barrel and a 3 inch barrel and has fixed sights. It is a 5 shot revolver and thnner than the GP100. This would be your best choice for conceal carry.
GP100 comes in 3, 4, or 6 inch barrels. It's a 6 shot revolver with adjustable rear sights. The GP100 has the advantage of longer barrels and the potential to be more accurate given the adjustable sights and barrel length.
I own a Ruger SP101 (3 in barrel) and like it a lot. Trigger is a bit harsh at first but smooths out over time. My main reason for choosing it over the GP100 was price. The Sp101 is cheaper and meets my criteria for a conceal carry when I go on hikes/camping in the wilderness (unmaintained trails not nat'l parks). However I took a long hard look at the GP100 4in barrel too and I think I would have been just as happy with it as well.

Two different guns. The GP100 is a full sized six shooter, while the SP101 is a snubby. I got my second wife one of the SP101. She is a scary excellent shot with the gun. My GP100 was one of the most accurate .357's I've ever owned. Buy both. . .

You are talking about two entirely different colored horses here.
The GP-100 is a medium-large framed service sized revolver. It is hell for stout, accurate and dependable. It is concealable, but you have to work at it. Recoil with most loadings is not severee.
The SP-101 is a first class pocket revolver. It is also quite strong, and dependable. Considering the size differences, it is no surprise that recoil is much more noticable than the GP-100.
In my opinion, they make a good pair. A GP-100 on your hip, and an SP-101 in your pocket. It don't get much better.

I haven't fired 'em both, so I'm probably talking kind of out of school here, but I like that gp100's balance. The heavy cylinder helps keep the recoil under control.
