Ive always wanted a chance to shoot a big, aggressive dog(some sort of mastiff breed would be my 1st choice)
Moreover, since I live in PDX,OR but travel to W Washington, is it legal to hunt dogs? What about feral dogs?

I have seen people refer to an AK-47 or sumthing that looks just like it, if it is in fact a different weapon, an SKS. But they told me it's shorter that an AK but still holds 7.62 mm

I've never been a rider myself but my son is interested so I'd like to indulge him...but I want to go about it intelligently and provide him with all the necessary gear, etc. The challenge will be doing it on a budget so I plan on using an online auction site if possible, but I need to know what to look for. Can anyone help?

I exchanged emails with both Bound and 'the hubby' this week and thought some of you may like an update.

For background, 'Bound's hubby' (they use the same YA identity) was the top answerer here for some time, very active and he could always be counted on for friendly, knowledgeable and wise answers to both novice and expert questions alike.

He was in a very serious motorcycle accident back in May and as the wife reports has been through several surgeries and still has some to go. I know I have missed him and bet some of you have as well.

The great news is he is making progress and is now able to work, although he's still not back in top form and he doesn't have time or energy for such trivial activities like this just yet.

Also, they are about to be blessed with their second child very soon now. Please keep the whole family in your thoughts and a prayer for their continued improvement, health and happiness would be appreciated.

Gentlemen,

I have never hunted from a stand or fixed position (well, at least for animals anyway).

This weekend, I will be using a crssobow for the first time. I will also be hunting on a new WMA on public land.

My challenge is not unique. I will not have the luxury of scouting beforehand and also have no experience trying to get a deer within 30 yards.

Can you give me the most immediate things I should look for from a good position? I realize that I must pay attention to smell and always position myself upwind, I must find a well traveled lane, obviously all the standard hunting things apply but can you give me a precise checklist to run through miy mind when looking for a good crossbow stand?

This is important to me as I want to branch out and learn certain things that I have never experienced when hunting. I will pass everything I gain to my son.

I appreciate your help.

Ven

I see all these descriptions on pistol using lingo such as "model 1911" or "22/45." What are they referring to? Is one better than the other?

I went and saw the movie " 3:10 to Yuma" which is a great movie by the way, and there was one part where there was a scope on a rifle used by one of the cowboys. now this movie was set in the mid 1800's. my question is, would there have been scopes on rifles back then? thanks!

I've evaluated my current situation, and I believe buying a blackpowder gun would be my best option. Can someone recommend a starter kit or something to get me started?I know you need a lot of different gear like nipples, powder, ect. Also I was wondering if there would be much difference between a pistol and rifle in terms of a learning curve, because I just like using pistols more.

Ok... heres my problem. I really want the 590 for home protection, but I also want to be able to shoot some clay birds at the range. I recently found out that there are no Mossberg 590 barrels available on the market with adjustable chokes! 500 barrells wont fit! The only alternative is going to a gunsmith and fabricate my existing barrel or whatever. So I still have a couple days to go (10 day waiting period) for my 590. Should I keep it or go with the 870 Express which comes with a mod choke and is on sale right now? Thanks for your help.
