Why do so many people call laser sites laser scopes?

Isn't a scope somthing you look through?

Well, it's not really a scope or a sight, is it? It's am 'aiming device'.

Why do many call sights sites ?

yes- you look through a 'scope.
look at Holosight : they're a combination of both.

Maybe they are confusing a laser sight with a red dot scope.

I guess for the same reason people call a magazine a clip.
