I thought Yahoo! Answers was a place for discussion and a place to find out info you DON'T KNOW YET. Why on earth are there hoards of questions "Guess my name, I played for this team in this year and had this many hits and homers", I dont care!!! Is anyone else agitated with this stuff?

Same rules apply, no editing, guess, etc...

.
What modern day player (1901-present) holds the "record" for lowest batting average in a season he drove in 100+ runs?

Please, no editing of answers - take a guess if you don't know it right off the bat.

Also, keep in mind that not everyone has access to the same research tools (ie. baseball reference's PI) so try making an educated guess instead.

The only Met in the Hall of Fame right now is Tommy Seaver. Does any Met, past or present, have a chance to get in (as a Met)? I'm thinking Mike Piazza will go in with the Mets, and maybe John Franco as a Met, but that's it.

If so...what do you guys think about what is going on with your team?

I'm a Yankees fan and I dont like seeing what is going on with them. Eventually they have to be contracted and thats really sad...because that team could have HISTORY to be proud of but its usually sold off.

What modern era (1901-present) Hall of Fame pitcher had the LEAST number of wins his first 5 seasons?

This does not include pitchers who were primarily relievers.

(Rudy L, you get another guess - it's not Whitey Ford.)

voting to disqualify players with contract clauses that pay bonuses for winning a BBWAA-voted award (MVP, CYA, and ROY, though I've never heard of such an incentive for ROY)?

The BBWAA appointed a committee to evaluate the concept, and voted decisively, 41-21, to enact this ban beginning with the 2013 championship season. Any player with a contract incentive would be ineligible as a candidate for these BBWAA-voted honors.

I think this will be A Good Thing. Awards should be their own, um, reward, and any financial gain can come in the player's next contract. Good to see the writers taking the initiative of obviating what has become an increasingly lucrative bonus plan (ARod got $1.5M for his 2007 MVP) that does impose some small but real potential conflicts of interest (as with Schilling's "any one CYA vote" 2008 bonus) on them.

A smart move.

What do you think? (<-- note: in the form of a QUESTION)

It doesn’t make any sense to me
just say what’s your final offer and if they don't wont it then don’t trade for him and the red sox will have to give a better offer but now the red sox know that the Yankees are out of the bidding and can get him for at as the same value that the Yankees offered (and maybe even less)

I've seen many comments here this morning calling Dontrelle Willis a star, and talking about how much he'll improve the Tigers' staff.

Now, I like Willis, but is he really that good? His ERA (5.17 last season) and WHIP have risen dramatically in the past two years, and his homers allowed has risen from 11 in 2005 to 29 this past season. His strikeouts have remained the same, but he's walking many more batters.

To me, it seems like hitters have figured him out and just sit on his fastball, similar to what they do with Barry Zito. So why does Dontrelle get so much credit?

to put us over the top. Will it happen this off-season?

Also where do you think the Mets will finish next season? Will they make the playoffs? World Series?

With the Tigers now acquiring superstars Miguel Cabrera & Dontrelle Willis, adding on to a strong roster with players like Sheffield, Verlander, Ordonez, Bonderman, etc. Do they now have the inside shot as the AL rep in the WS in 08? Or does Boston resolidify their stature as the AL kings with a deal for Santana?
