They should but I hope they dont, but at the same time I hope they do....Minnesota wont pay him after the season (he will demand too much), so they should just gets some prospects. This being said the Yanks should because it would give them the best pitcher in the game.

The Yankees have given the Twins a deadline of Monday night to either accept the trade or the offer will be taken away. Well Monday came and went and Johan Santana is still a Twin so therefore it looks as if the Yankees are done and the Red Sox most likely will be gettin Johan Santana unless something changes at the last minute. Anyway the Twins want more then the Yankees are willing to offer them for Johan Santana.

I nonetheless like the deal. in my opinion, i like Melky yet he's at maximum suitable a gold glove .3 hundred-15 hitter. proper now there are various good outfielders on the industry. He can get replaced. Hughes i think of could have issues. He replace into inconsistant final twelve months, throwing a number of of pitches and probably rarely making it in the path of the 5th inning. additionally his velocity is far down from 2006 (from ninety six-ninety seven to ninety two-ninety 3). So i think of his destiny as an ace is iffy. meanwhile, Johann is in his best and additionally you know what you will get: an era under 4.00, 200K and below 75BB. this is a recipe for 20+ wins with the heavy hitting Yankee line up. Heck, I advise if Wang can get 19 wins 2 years in a row, Santana gets a minimum of that straightforward. I say pull the set off and the Yankees are all the greater desirable for it. Hughes & Melky are years (if ever) from greatness. Santana is right here and now with 5 greater elite years to circulate.

I think it would improve their shot for a World Series title, but I believe Hughes is on the verge of having a great season with the Yankees. The Yankees will have some more run support this season with A Rod coming back. If the Yankees want a better pitcher, they trade Melky and Kennedy for Haren of the A's. He's a good pitcher and a definite 200 innnin work horse. The Yankees and Tiger as of right now are my picks to make it to the AL title series.

Obviously the Twins wanted more and who could blame them. Melky is nothing special and Phil Hughes is unproven. That would be dumb of the Twins to do that and hopefully dumb they are not. I think the Twins were using the Yankees to get other teams to make more offers like the Red Sox and Angels. My guess is that they do not want to trade him to a team in the same league and when this is finished he will be on the Dodgers or another NL team, maybe the Red Sox.

They should. Santana is a proven big-leaguer, while Hughes is a very good pitcher, but you have to pray he becomes the kind of pitcher Santana is. Melky is a young CF with a great arm, but Santana is just something else.

No, I have a feeling he won't pitch as well as he did in Minnesota. But that might be the many bad pitcher aquisititons I've seen the Yankees make in my short time actually watching baseball (since 2003 or 20004).

Javier Vazquez
Jose Contreras
Kevin Brown
Jaret Wright
Randy Johnson
Carl Pavano
Kei Igawa
A million and ten guys in the bullpen . ..

too late Boston is closing in on a deal for Santana, and that pretty much gaurantees them at least 3 more rings. Nobody will be able to beat that rotation. It will be scary. It sucks my Mets cant even get a decent starter and the Sox have 5 all star starters. oh well

i don't know if they should or even needed to,but with the way the yanks hit Johan will have a much better record and probably give him an even better chance at the Cy young award. the yanks don't need Santana but Santana needs the yanks
