Not of the decade, but it was a real boost for the tigers! Like always the Marlins keep getting talented young players and later have to them up because they cannot afford them. So sad! But, now the Tigers are ready to compete with the best in the AL, they have a powerful offense, with now a legit HR threat and a nice boost to their starting rotation. I think Willis just needed some help in the offence department, since he wasn't getting that with the Marlins & he can now concentrate more on his pitching since he is not going to swing the bat in the AL, unless it's an emergency!

Geez, enough with this "best trade" stuff.
Yes, they got a star third baseman who should be a huge help to an already-strong offense. However, they also got a pitcher whose ERA and WHIP have risen dramatically over the past two seasons, and who gave up 29 homers last year. Willis reminds me of several other guys who looked great until hitters figured out their stuff and started sitting on their fastball.
The Tigers also gave up one of the top five prospects in the game (Maybin) and the best pitcher of the previous draft in Miller. I wouldn't be at all suprised to see Miller outpitch Willis this season. The Tigers will do well in the short term offensively, but by no means was this trade any kind of steal on their part.

Its a pretty good trade, to win it now, then to wait. Cabrera and Willis are still young, Willis needs some retooling but he should get back to earlier form. What happens with Brandon Inge? I guess he turns into a utility player.Santana would have been nice.

AJ Pierzynski to the Giants---Francisco Liriano, Joe Nathan, and Boof Bonser to the Twins...... That was the best trade of the decade!

what happens when their contracts are up? Are the Tigers going to have a NYY size payroll in a few years?

More like the Marlins year of the end clearance than a good trade.

What? Do not call my beloved Tigers the next Yankees cause there are not. This is great. With this trade, the Tigs are really a powerhouse to mess with now.
