What modern day player (1901-present) holds the "record" for lowest batting average in a season he drove in 100+ runs?

Please, no editing of answers - take a guess if you don't know it right off the bat.

Also, keep in mind that not everyone has access to the same research tools (ie. baseball reference's PI) so try making an educated guess instead.

Brett is right. The correct answer is Tony Armas (one of my favorite players as a kid, although my dad always said he was a bum.) As I've gotten older I realized why he said that - Armas couldn't hit his weight, but he sure could hit the ball a mile.

Good guess Craig.

Would that be Tony Armas in his first year in Boston in 1983, he hit .218 with 107 RBIs

My guess was Rob Deer, but he never had more than 86.

Looking it up with PI, I don't think that guy would have come to me without help.

I would have guessed Joe Carter.

And I would have had two of the top five such seasons by naming him. Oy.
