As a Jays fan, and someone who watches baseball in general, I find it funny when people say the Jays should keep Rios even though they like that "Lincecum" guy. That "Lincecum" guy is a future stud. He had 1 good year in the MLB but also has been a HUGE prospect for a while. Whoever said the Jays pitching will be fine as long as Chacin stays healthy is crazy, Chacin is junk, he had 1 good year that wasn't even that good, and he'll never come close to that again. Pitching wins ball games, decent bats are generally easier to find than solid pitching. The jays would be way better if this deal happened.
Think of it this way...how often have you seen a team with great hitting and poor pitching win a World Series?? (Think Texas Rangers if you need help). ALMOST NEVER!!!
How many times have you seen a team with great pitching and poor hitting win a world series? (Think Arizona Diamondbacks, Florida Marlins, etc, etc, etc). PITCHING WINS
That is all :)

Tim Lincecum is said to have better stuff than Matt Cain but his torque like wind up and aggressive delivery style is said to cause injuries. Don't be surprised if he has injuries down the road. Winners would be Giants. Ready to play All-Star in Rios.
I've had a day to think about this trade and I have to change my mind. Trading for Rios would do no justice for the Giants. They absolutely have no hitting so what would Rios do for them. When he up to bat the bases will be empty. Their still going to finish in last next year with or without Lincecum. The Giants should ask for the holy grail for either of them.

If this trade goes through, I will need to close my door so my employees don't see my running around the office in celebration.
As much as I like Rios, getting Lincecum for him would be awesome. A rotation with a top four of Halladay, Burnett, Lincecum and Dustin McGowan would be amazing. We'd still have some big questions on offense, but it would be comforting to know that our pitching could keep us in games.

bad for jays, good for giants
the jays dont need more starting pitching at all, just because lincecum had one good year it doesnt mean he will do it again, thats like vernon wells this year, he was badddd, but the year before he was fantastic
the giants would be smart to accept this trade, cause alex rios is an average AND power hitter, that can drive the ball, and has a strong arm in the outfield

it can be a fabulous develop to an already-stable pitching team for my Jays, in spite of the undeniable fact that it may go away an already-hurting offense wanting 1 its maximum suitable gamers. i could, even with the indisputable fact that, take pitching any time i ought to get it. Rios has truly developed into an exceptionally good hitter, and he continues to be have been given some years left in the previous loose corporation. I heard the Jays had honestly asked for Matt Cain initially, however the Giants did no longer have the desire to make that deal. there's a fabulous variety of hypothesis approximately how properly Lincecum will postpone by means of fact of his mechanics, yet i'm no longer professional sufficient to remark on something like that. i'm shocked the Giants could make this deal, in spite of the undeniable fact that evidently like they are tremendously desperate for some high quality bats in that lineup.

Straight up it's a bad deal. The Giants decline a straight up deal for Young. Young had 5 years left in his deal. Rios could split in three years. Rios better come with other players.

I would miss Alex Rios. We need offence; our pitching was fine last year. If Chacin would stay healthy then we would have Halladay, Burnett, Chacin, Marcum, and McGowan. We could trade Burnett for some offensive player but I would miss Alex Rios if we traded him. He is my Favourite Blue Jays player and the Blue Jays would miss his bat.

Trade great pitching for better offense? Will Rios match Bonds numbers of last year? Need more of an offer from Toronto to make it happen.

I'm a Giants fan and I say they should keep Lincecum. That kid is one of the few bright spots we had last season and he's gonna be really good for a long time.
The Jays can have Zito instead...

it is an interesting one, but i say no to the deal, because he's already a stellar player and star only 26, years old and like all the other times toronto trades away a player they go on to do great things, i do like that lincecum guy but i say no to the deal it would be stupid on toronto's part to let rio's go i say get rid of troy glaus.
