For me, November-March have to be the longest months of the year. No major league baseball. I have to check almost all media outlets to get even the latest free agent, trade talks and rumors, etc. I miss MLB. Opening day in Japan between the Redsox and A's is right around the corner right?

I would have to agree with sport ill,Detroit is the # sports town in a landslide....Boston has just won the world series,Celtics off to a GREAT start (last 5 yrs 2nd worst win pct in basketball),Bruins (havent been good in 25 yrs),Patroits(have been VERY good last 5-6 yrs)....Detroit REdWings(have been the NHLs best team last 15 yrs),Detroit Tigers(went to the world series last yr..HORRIBLE 5 yrs before that..they should be a top 5 MLB for yrs to come) Detroit Lions(past 8 yrs UGLY...should make a push forthe playoffs this yr..and a very nice core to be good for awhile)..Pistons (most confrence finals in last 20 yrs..again a favorite to come out of the East)...whos better Detroit or Boston ?

Sorry Yankee fans, no MVP for you.
Now there's an extra $60 million they can use to turn an outfielder into a pitcher or a 1st baseman?

I was flipping between Comcast SportsNet Chicago and CNN today, one was talking about the Cubs, the other about Israel and the Palestinians. Both seem like they will never happen, so I got to thinking.....

We recently about 4 months ago moved our daughter from rec. softball were she was just about top of the line as far as talent goes to select softball. The team has won 6 tournaments in a row. We moved our daughter because she really loves to play hard and rec. just wasn't cutting it anymore for her. We wanted her to be around better players instead of worse, thinking it would make her an even better player. This team that she is on their are alot of really great players, but a majority of the team is kin somehow. It's like they will put in the family members before my daugter even though she may be better than them. It also seems she is losing some of her fielding skills because they only practice her in the outfield catching pop flys, which she can already do 95% of the time. It's fun to be part of a winning team, but do we stick it out hoping that eventually they will notice that my daughter has talent just as much as most of the others. I am not sure what to do?

Mariano is set for 3 more years of closing. He needs 81 saves to catch up. It will be hard for him since Hoffman is still active, but do you think he can do it?

I know he filed for free agency immediately after the entire season was finished, but that is the very last I've heard about or of him. Did he enter the Witness Protection Program or something?

why or why not?

He turned down the player's option of $13,000,000 for the Mets and signed a $8,000,000 deal with the Braves. I'm pretty surprised. not that he returned, but the money figure.
