Your three named players and/or other young Dodgers players are exactly what the Marlins would be looking for to deal Cabrera this year. He does not become a free agent until after the 2008 season so the Marlins have time to hold out for their best offer. I believe Rowand would be less of an interest to the Dodgers.

Rowand is a free agetn, so they don't need to trade to get him, just be the best offer.
For Cabrera, I am not sure why you would expect the Dodgers to be able to get him while giving up two-bit prospects. They will simply go for the cream and say to the dodgers, 'well, do you want to win or not'

Unfortunately, it will probably take two out of your three PLUS Billingsley to get Cabrerra in Blue....Rowand would want a JD Drew-ish contract and I don't think that would be wise.

Torre won rings with Scott Brossius at 3B and a mix of rising stars (Jeter, Posada) and steady vets (Bernie, Tino, etc.) and NOBODY who hit 30 HR. I think he'll be smart enough to bat Pierre 8th and have faith in Colletti to find a guy who can play 3B during the 40 or so days Nomar's on the DL.
