Great deal for both Lowell and the Red Sox. It tells the players and fans that management will do what they can to keep a winning combination together.

Yes, Great deal. I think he fits in better with the Red Sox anyways. Signing him makes the Red Sox infield solid at the corners. As always, retaining him before the Yankees can get him to cross over to the Dark Side is aways a good deal.

heck yes! wondering when a deal would go down being that he was the mvp of the ws! Mike Lowell is getting to the twilight of his career but its amazing to see him actually doing better as he gets older. Hopefully he can keep this up for seasons to come and retire as a red sox! A very good 3rd baseman!

Good deal in immediate for Sox as they please their fan, and got the best non-Arod 3b available.
Does the last yr of the contract with a 36 yo Lowell make them nervous of course.
Good deal for Mike but he did leave money on the table. Says alot that he and also Schilling would take less money or a more team oriented deal.

It was a great deal. If you look at some of the Red Sox games last season, its very apparent what a key player he was to the Sox. I've been waiting for them to resign him and I'm so happy that its almost official. Us Sox fans want to see our MVP come back!

Probably a good deal. Lowell has never been that injury prone. He'll probably play the better part of those three seasons. Maybe a few short term injuries, but that'll be it. His game was made for Fenway and he will continue to produce. Plus he's a heck of a leader in the clubhouse. Pretty good deal, IMO.

Yes. A four year contract might have been too long. It would have been better than losing him, but he was the Red Sox's first priority in the free agency. He will not have years like last year all the time, but he is a solid third baseman and unlike Ellsbury in center field, I do not see any Pawtucket players ready to step up to play third base at this time.

It's a good move for the Red Sox. He is a key player for them too. I don't think he would have been good in New York. Lowell's stats were good, but I read somewhere most of his hits & rbi's were in Fenway Park but outside of his home ballpark, his stats weren't as good. I could be wrong but he is a good player & helped Boston win a title.
