No i don't think it should be changed....at least for what I remember that has been the name for it. GGGGooooo CUUUbbbbssss......I hope they never do that to Wrigley to be honest. I wouldn't be able to get used to it. The same like when they changed the name for US.Cellular field...still cant get used to how it sounds.

******GoCuBsGoGoCuBsGo******* Hopefully they win next year....I have high hopes for them.

The reason why Yankee Stadium is called "The House That Ruth Built" is because Babe Ruth single handily earned the Yankees enough money to buy the property and build Yankee Stadium. Whether the new stadium should be called "The House That Ruth Built", I say yes. Ruth was there at the beginning and he was the reason for the Yankee dynasty that lasted well past his death, and if it was not for Ruth, the Yankees would have have the rich history they do. As long as there is an "NY" before Yankees, no matter what building they play in it should always be called "The House That Ruth Built".

Besides, they are using the dirt from the current stadium as the field for the new stadium and "The House That Ruth Built" sounds allot better than "The Dirt Ruth Played On" LOL.

To Big Poppa, the reason the Yankees out sold the Giants in the Polo Grounds was because of Ruth. It was only after the Yankees got Ruth, that the Giants kicked the Yankees out, because up until That time the Giants were NY's most popular team.

Lets see the games greatest player...even non-fans have heard of Babe Ruth which is saying alot considering he hasn't played a inning in around 75 years.

Ruth was monsterous, to put it into perspective it would be like some player hitting .363 with around 80 to 90 homers a year. He was that much better then the entire league.

Ruth single-handily saved baseball, without him there is a chance the Black Sox scandel would have killed the game. He most definately was the reason that the orginal Yankee Stadium was built and the reason why the Yankees have a strong fan base today. Without said fan base they may not have had the money to scout as hard and perhaps wouldn't have brought in players like Mantle or wouldn't have had the cash to buy minor leaguers like DiMaggio.

Honestly Ruth is probably the most important figure in the history of the sport.

I don't know if I'd call the new stadium the House that Ruth built, but the original most certainly was.

Only thing that is comparable is Safco Field in Seattle. Griffey had a major hand in getting that one approved and built even though he never really played in it.

No because the new stadium symbolizes a New Era in Yankee History......Even though Ruth was the greatest ball player to ever play the game once the Stadium is torn down that is the end of "The House That Ruth Built"

Signficant Other.... you get banned for 2 weeks for commenting that Ruth wasnt even that good.... lets see he only was a game one starter for the RedSox team that won the world series 1918 , he also holds the record for the longest complete game in World Series history and had 13 scoreless innings in that game in 1916 ...as a Standout pitcher with boston he pitch in 3 world series games and had 3 world series victories...and this is before most people start looking at his stats....but with the yanks and that legendary swing made him a star and he indeed built Yankee Stadium with his Fame.... even though there were alot of great yankee players, none come close to holding a candle to THe Bambino.... when you factor in that he played in a 154 game schedule and not the 162 ..or that Hank Arraon and Barry Bonds both had more than 2000 more at bats than the Babe ...but barley broke his career home run record...and neither Arraon or Bonds ever pitched a game much less a world series game and won..... Babe is an icon that is in the same Breath as Muhammad Ali or Wilt Chamberlin or even Jordan (for the younger fans) and the next stadium really doesnt have to named after Ruth or labeled he built it but there should be an asterisk saying That he Started it all....

Babe Ruth played between 1914-1935. He was a New York Yankee between 1920-1934. Yankee Stadium opened up in 1923 at the height of Babes popularity and was called the house that Ruth built for obvious reasons as he brought in the people as attendance soared and baseball was the most popular American sport.

It depends on whether you consider the current Yankee Stadium to be the same as the one that opened in 1923, when Ruth was in his prime for the Yanks.

When they did the renovations in the mid-70s, they did tear down a large chunk of the old stadium. However, I think many fans still consider them the same stadium, hence the keeping of that nickname.

i think of you have nonetheless have been given to call it that and manage it by way of fact the comparable stadium. It has as plenty connection to the unique by way of fact the present incarnation of american Stadium, which exchange into thoroughly rebuilt interior the 1970's and seems completely different from the unique 1923 stadium. the recent one is a fashionable version of the unique residing house that Ruth outfitted, plenty greater genuine than the present one, yet no longer in quite the comparable area. regardless of the shown fact that that is in straightforward terms around the line, nonetheless at 161st st and river ave. As Jeter mentioned, its no longer too a techniques for the ghosts to commute. So it is not quite the comparable stadium, yet neither is the present one. If we call the present stadium the Houst that Ruth outfitted, we ought to consistently call the recent one the comparable ingredient. All those issues with regard to the stunning season is especially a promotional ingredient.

I looked at all the answers & not one was right.

THERE IS A REASON that it is call the house that Ruth built
THE YANKEES WERE PLAYING AT THE POLO GROUNDS WITH THE GIANTS & OUT DRAWING THE GIANTS

THE MANAGER & OWNER DIDNT CARE FOR IT & TOLD THEM TO GET OUT.

EVERYONE WANTED TO SEE THE BABE RUTH

SO THAT CREATED A NEED FOR THE YANKS TO FIND THEIR OWN STADIUM (The House That Ruth Built)

(Not bad for a Mets fan knowing the answer about the yankees)

Yeah.

Baseball is a game of tradition, and Ruth is probably the biggest and most-easily identifiable player of all-time. He deserves the recognition.

As for the next stadium. Maybe. If only because it is a New York thing.

(And, by the way, I grew up in St. Louis . . . .)
