Do they use Angus Beef or something? What's so special about a ballpark frank and a ballpark beer?

He has 2,056 hits at age 33.

If he piles on four 200 hit seasons and a couple of 250 hit seasons for another 10 or 7 good years he will rech 3,00 hits at about age 43!

Did anyone else notice that?

I would say Magglio Ordonez of the Detroit Tigers. He is thw hottest player on the plant right now and I think that he will win it. Your thoughts?

As boring as it is, you'd think baseball would be first sport to have cheerleaders. nba, nfl has them; so why not baseball. I'd love to see cheerleaders in baseball.

Apparently umps call balls and strikes different based on pitchers skin color...

http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/20070814/sc_livescience/majorleagueumpscallmorestrikesforpitchersofsamerace

Read either this title or the whole article and try telling me this is "proof" it is happening.

A strike is usually a strike and a ball is usually a ball...they don't say close pitches are evaluated, just every single pitch except foul balls or hits. If a pitch is right down the middle, it'll be called a strike, if a pitch is over the catchers head, it'll be a ball.

Basically, I think this "study" was a huge waste of time...maybe even more so than the one that found white refs in basketball to call more fouls against black players (although this one is actually more valid than the basketball one, where they only looked at scorecards and not actual games)

Never mind the World Series, what chance do they have of making it out of the first round? They haven't been able to the last couple years but they've added Pettitte and Clemens. Will that be enough?

I mean no disrespect to the late Phil Rizzuto. Not being a Yankee fan, I never knew him as a player or announcer.

But I always associated the phrase "Holy cow" with the late Harry Caray. Certainly, neither of them had a copyright on the phrase, so it's fine that they both said it. I was just surprised to hear so many Holy cows in reference to someone OTHER than Harry.

Am I remembering wrong, or wasn't this a famous Harry Caray expression (too)?

I particulary like the homerun Kevin Millar hit right after the yankees pitcher hit Markakis in the back with a pitch! They need to do something about those stray balls of theirs!
